Registration. Upon graduation from the four- year program of the college, an individual is eligible for admission to the examina– tion for licensure as a registered nurse. Licensure is mandatory in order to practice nursing in Ohio. Graduates planning to practice nursing in other states will be eligible for admission to the exami– nation for licensure in those states. General Information Facilities fo1· Clinical Activity. All clinical activity is conducted under the direct supervision of Cedarville College nursing facul– ty. The program utilizes a number of community resources within thirty miles of the campus including public and private, large and small hospitals, health departments, mental health services, wel– fare services, rehabilitation centers, clinics, homes for the aged, and physicians' offices. The college anticipates that in 1983-85 the major clinical and laboratory resources will be selected from twenty area agencies. Financial Aid. Students should consult the Financial Aid Office regarding all types of financial assistance. Potential sources of aid available specifically for nursing students include: Allstate Foundation Amvets Memorial Scholarships Directory of Financial Aids for Women National Foundation March of Dimes Health Careers Awards Nursing Scholarship Program Nursing Student Loan Program Additional aid is often available through local hospital recruit– ment budgets. Students are generally assisted with college ex– penses in return for a commitment to be employed by the assisting hospital for a given time span following graduation. Information regarding these programs is available through the hospitals in– volved or through local high school guidance counselors. Infor– mation regarding employment opportunities in area health related agencies is available in the Nursing Department office. Because of the time necessary for clinical activity, outside employment will be limited for most students. 91 Transportation. Students are responsible for transportation to and from clinical settings. Car pools will be encouraged to help defray the cost. Uniforms. Each student must secure uniforms prior to the first clinical experience. Equipment. Books and equipment needed in clinical settings will be purchased by the student. Physical Examination. A physical examination is required be– fore admission to the nursing program. A chest x-ray within one year prior to admission is required and a TB test is necessary with– in one year prior to the first clinical placement. Evidence ofusual childhood immunization protocols and a tetanus booster are re– quired for clinical experience. Students will not be allowed to report to a clinical area when an active infection is present. They will be asked to report to the Col– lege Health Center for assessment. They will be responsible to notify the instrnctor as well as the unit to which they are assigned. Orientation Program. All students new to the Department of Nursing are required to attend the orientation program at the be– ginning of the fall and spring quarters. Students are responsible for information given at orientation sessions. Nmrses Christian Fellowship. A chapter of Nurses Christian Fel– lowship is planned for the 1982-83 academic year. Membership is open to all who are interested in the purposes of the organization and who desire to participate in the program. Student Nurses in Action. Student Nurses in Action is a campus group promoting community service and is open to all nursing and prenursing students. Special projects are planned as needs arise for assistance with blood banks, clinics, and disaster relief. Field trips are conducted to area health fairs, community service agen– cies and health service agencies, and institutions.
