160 Nursing Nursing students gain valuable professional insights through their close interaction with nursing professors in a variety ofclinical settings. Vision Statement We are the Department of Nursing, Cedarville College. We are called to educate nursing students who fulfill God's purpose for their lives in local communities and throughout the world. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we are leaders in promoting the health of people in a variety of settings. We are devoted to God's service through the ministry of nursing. Program Objectives: At the completion of the Department of Nursing program students will be able to: l. Utilize critical thinking in integrating knowledge from the sciences, the humanities, and nursing theory into nursing practice. 2. Integrate Biblical principles into the nursing care of persons of all faiths and varying spiritual needs in such a way that individual rights and personal preferences are honored. 3. Display a Christian life style. 4. Demonstrate independence in utilizing the nursing process in giving care to individuals, families, and communities with complex or unfamiliar health care needs. 5. Display accountability for their own actions and professional development. 6. Apply research findings appropriately in nursing practice. 7. Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and members of the health care profession. 8. Utilize leadership and management principles in the role of professional nurse. 9. Apply principles necessary to facilitate change. 10. Incorporate teaching and learning principles to educate individuals and small groups concerning promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
