94 Education Merlin Ager, chairman ofthe department, brings teaching and administrative experience in public, Christian, and missionary education to the clasroom. Programs of Study The Department of Education offers instruction with the purpose of pro– viding distinctively Christian teachers for Christian, public, and missionary schools. The College is approved by the State of Ohio Department of Edu– cation for programs leading to the four-year Ohio teaching certificate in the following areas: Early Childhood Education (grades K-3) Elementary Education (grades 1-8) Kindergarten-Elementary (grades K-8) Secondary Education (grades 7-12}-in: biological science music bookkeeping/basic business physical education business education political science chemistry science comprehensive English social studies history comprehensive mathematics speech Special (K-12) in health education, music, physical education, and Spanish Endorsement in reading and typewriting/keyboarding Certification Public Schools Students completing the specified program requirements qualify for teacher certification from the state of Ohio.
