94 Education Merlin Ager, chairman ofthe department, brings teaching and administrative experience in public, Christian, and missionary education to the clasroom. Programs of Study The Department of Education offers instruction with the purpose of pro– viding distinctively Christian teachers for Christian, public, and missionary schools. The College is approved by the State of Ohio Department of Edu– cation for programs leading to the four-year Ohio teaching certificate in the following areas: Early Childhood Education (grades K-3) Elementary Education (grades 1-8) Kindergarten-Elementary (grades K-8) Secondary Education (grades 7-12}-in: biological science music bookkeeping/basic business physical education business education political science chemistry science comprehensive English social studies history comprehensive mathematics speech Special (K-12) in health education, music, physical education, and Spanish Endorsement in reading and typewriting/keyboarding Certification Public Schools Students completing the specified program requirements qualify for teacher certification from the state of Ohio. Ohio participates in the Inter– state Agreement on qualification of educational personnel and has entered into an implementation contract (reciprocity) with twenty-six states: Alabama Kentucky Pennsylvania California Maine Rhode Island Connecticut Maryland South Dakota Delaware Massachusetts Utah District of Columbia Nebraska Vermont Florida New Hampshire Vrrginia Hawaii New Jersey Washington Idaho New York West Vrrginia Indiana North Carolina
