1992-1993 Academic Catalog

The CAD (computer aided design) laborat01y, featuring the latest in CAD equipment, helps provide the technological support engineering students need to develop design skills. Programs of Study The Department of Engineering offers two majors which lead to the bachelor of science in engineering (B.S.E.) degree (pending approval by the Ohio Board of Regents): Majors: Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Special Program: Preengineering Accreditation The engineering curriculum was designed to satisfy the requirements set forth by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). The department is planning to seek accreditation at the earliest possible opportunity. Career Opportunities Engineers are found in leadership positions in a variety of settings. They work at all stages of developing ideas into products: research, development, design, construction, production, operations, marketing, sales, and management. In this era of rapid technological change, an engineering education serves our society well. In the decades ahead, society's needs and problems--such as pollution, fossil fuel depletion, world hunger--will call for engineering contributions on a scale not previously experienced.
