The English prepares students to teach English in both public and Christian schools in grades 7-12. Students who complete this curiiculum will be certified by the State of Ohio and the Associa– tion of Christian Schools International. The Ohio teaching certificate, through reciprocal agreements, is automatically recognized in twenty-six states. Those planning to teach in states other than Ohio should consult with the "Department of Education" to be aware of special requirements in states where reciproc– ity has not been established. Students desiring English as a second teaching field must complete all of the requirements for the English education major. Candidates for secondary English Education must pass a departmental screening test usually administered at the end of the sophomore year.
