Mathematics Education The mathematics education major prepares students to teach mathematics in grades 7-12 in public and Christian schools. Students completing these requirements will be certified by the state of Ohio and the Association of Christian Schools International. The Ohio teaching certificate, through reciprocal agreements, is automati– cally recognized by 35 states (a complete list of these states is located in the Department ofEducation section of the catalog). Those planning to teach in states other than Ohio should consult with the Department ofEduca– tion to be aware of special requirements in states where reciprocity has not been established. Course requirements involve 64 or 65 quarter hours ofmathematics plus 47 quarter hours in secondary education.
