26 Academic Information Academic Information The Cedarville College academic program is designed to meet the educational, moral, physical, social, and spiri– tual needs of young people who desire to honor God with their lives. The total program represents a balance between the knowledge gained through the courses studied the co-curricular activities, and worship in the regular'chapel and church services. In such a setting, truth from scripture is integrated with the knowledge taught in each course to provide effective le.arning and enduring life values. The knowledge and skills learned from the courses give students an excellent background for professional competence in their chosen fields. Degree Requirements Cedarville College grants six baccalaureate degrees and one associate degree: Bachelor ofArts (B.A.), Bachelor ofMusic Education (B.M.E.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Science in El.ectrical E~gineeri~g (B.S.E.E.), Bachelor of Science m Mechamcal Engmeer– ing (B.S.M.E.), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.), and Associate ofArts in Office Technology (A.A.). A degree candidate should carefully study the require– ments for that degree as well as the special requirements for graduation found in this catalog. Careful atte_ntio~ to these requirements will enable the student to avoid domg unnecessary work. Students are responsible to see that graduation requirements are met. Bachelor's degree requirements are listed below. 1. Meet all admission and proficiency requirements. 2. Complete at least 192 quarter hours (not including proficiency), 48 hours ofwhich must be of upper division work (300-400 level courses). 3. Maintain a cumulative grade point average of not less than 2.00. 4. Maintain a grade point average in the major of not less than 2.0. 5. Establish minimum residency of one year (48 quarter hours, normally the senior year). 6. Complete the General Education Requirements. (The biblical education requirement for freshman and sopho– more transfer students is 24 quarter hours; junior and senior transfers normally must complete at least one biblical education course for each quarter of full-time residence including BEGE-376 God and the Church.) 7. Complete the specific requirements for the desired . major, one third ofwhich must be taken from Cedarville College. Students should check their departments for any additional requirements unique to their area. 8. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the English language on a standardized examination or co~plete English Composition (ENG-110, ENG-140) with at least a 2.0 grade point average, on a four-point scale. 9. Satisfy the appropriate global awareness requirement. 10. Participate in the college testing program when offered. 11. Complete an application for commencement and pay the graduation fee. Requirements for a Second Degree If a student has a baccalaureate degree from Cedarville College and desires to earn a second degree, the student must: 1. Meet all the admission requirements. 2. Have fulfilled each of the General Education courses in biblical education. 3. Earn a minimum of 240 credits (48 credits beyond the 192 minimum required for a first baccalaureate degree). At least 32 of the credits earned after 192 must be taken at Cedarville College. 4. Earn at least 64 credits in upper division courses (300- level and above). 5. Fulfill the requirements of a designated major of the second baccalaureate degree. Any appropriate coursework from the first degree may be applied toward the second degree. 6. Earn at least a 2.00 grade point average in the major. 7. Participate in the senior testing program when offered. 8. Complete an application for commencement and pay the graduation fee. If a student has a baccalaureate degree from another institution and desires to earn a second degree, the student must: 1. Have earned the first baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution ofhigher education.or from an institution specifically approved by Cedarville. 2. Meet all the admission and proficiency requirements. 3. Earn at least 48 credits from Cedarville College, including at least 32 credits ofupper division courses (300-level or above). . 4. Fulfill the equivalent of the Cedarville College General EducationRequirements. 5. Fulfill the requirements of a designated major for the second baccalaureate degree. 6. Earn at least a 2.00 grade point average in the major. 7. Participate in the senior testing program when offered. 8. Complete an application for commencement and pay the graduation fee.
