The CPA concentration in accounting is offered for students in Ohio and a number of other states who wish to qualify to take the CPA examination in 2000. The state of Ohio and many other states requires those taking the CPA examination in their states to complete additional course work beyond what is necessary for the normal undergraduate accounting major. To qualify to take the CPA examination, students must complete 225 quarter hours of undergraduate or graduate education, including coverage in specific accounting, business, and elective courses. Successful completion of the accounting major require– ments and the CPA concentration requirements will qualify candidates for the CPA examination in the state of Ohio. Students interested in qualifying for CPA examination in other states should contact the appropriate state board of accountancy regarding the respective examination requirements.
