114 Exercise and Sport Science PEA-460 Research in Athletic Training and Exercise Science-A 2 hours Designed to develop an appreciation for the importance of and need for quality research in athletic training and/or exercise science. Orientation to methods and procedures utilized, emphasizing basic principles of conducting research, and for interpreting and critically reviewing articles representative ofthe athletic training/exercise science domains. PEA-461 Issues in Athletic Training-W 2 hours The study of current issues in athletic training with an emphasis on legal/ethical issues and professional development. PEA-495 Football Internship Seminar-A 0 hours To be taken concurrently with PEA-498 Football Internship II to share and discuss pertinent issues which invariably arise from participating in the football internship. PEA-497 Football Internship I-SS III 3 hours Students will spend at least 100 hours working with a certified athletic trainer during preseason and regular season football. Emphasis is given to the importance ofnutrition, safety, and movement education for the young child including a look at basic nutritional, health, and safety management, especially in relationship to childhood illnesses and communicable diseases. Practical work in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs for all ages in schools, youth group outings, Bible clubs, and camps are provided.
