129 Music School of Humanities, Fine Arts, and Bible Church Music Ministries The church music ministries major prepares the music student for graduate studies or for ministry of music in churches that embrace evangelical traditions. Upon completing this course of study, students should be able to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for the development of western civilization as it relates to life in general and to the music of the church. 2. Perform with expertise, making application to the evangeli- cal traditions when appropriate. 3. Evaluate the musical and spiritual needs of a congregation and develop a music ministry program to meet those needs, integrating music into the total life, mission, and purpose of the local evangelical church in its individual cultural setting. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of and ability for developing, organizing, and administrating a church music teaching and training program for evangelical churches.
