197 Social Sciences and History School of Social Sciences and Professional Studies Political Science The political science major is designed to prepare students for advanced graduate education in the areas of American politics, international relations, political philosophy, and law. It also prepares students for careers in public policy analysis, international affairs, various levels of government, campaign management, interest groups, journalism, and many others. Besides training students in a core area of courses, the major gives students the opportunity to focus their studies by choosing a concentration either in American politics, international rela- tions, or political philosophy.
