Page 280 2010–11 Undergraduate Catalog Arline Littleton Autio Award* This scholarship was established by Clyde and Jean Autio in 1987 in loving memory of and in gratitude for the life and educational ministry of Clyde’s mother, Arline Littleton Autio. The scholarship assists a senior student pursing a bachelors degree in elementary education and also planning to continue in a career in public school education. Recipient should demonstrate financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipients must also effectively be engaged in a regular ministry to young people while attending Cedarville. Average scholarship award is $500; one award per year. Recipients are selected by the Department of Education faculty. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended. Bartlett Family Early Childhood Education Scholarship David and Linda Barlett established this scholarship in 2000 in honor of Linda Bartlett, to assist a full-time student majoring in Early Childhood Education who plans to teach kindergarten. The recipient must demonstrate potential to excel as a classroom teacher, have completed one year at Cedarville and must maintain a GPA of 2.5. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director and education faculty select the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Bartlett Family Nursing Scholarship Established in 2000 by David and Linda Bartlett, and Bradley ‘98 and Tonya ‘97 Bartlett, in honor of Tonya Bartlett ‘97, this scholarship assists a full-time student majoring in nursing who has financial need. The recipient must have completed one year at Cedarville and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director and nursing faculty select the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Bartlett Family Technical and Professional Communications Scholarship David and Linda Bartlett and Bradley ‘98 and Tonya ‘97 Bartlett established this scholarship in honor of Bradley Bartlett ‘98, to assist a full-time student majoring in Technical and Professional Communication who has financial need. The recipient must have completed one year at Cedarville and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipient. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Mendell Beattie Memorial Scholarship Heritage Alumni and Cedarville College athletes established this scholarship in 2005 to honor their beloved Cedarville College coach, Mendell Beattie. Recipients must be members of the men’s varsity baseball or basketball team and must demonstrate financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Recipients are selected by the Varsity Baseball and Basketball coaches and the Director of Financial Aid. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. John W. Bickett Scholarship* Established by the Heritage Alumni in 1982, this scholarship is named for Reverend John Wilson Bickett, the first member of the first graduating class to receive a diploma from Cedarville (1897). The recipients are junior students who are preparing for pastoral or missionary service with a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and who are planning additional schooling., i.e., seminary, language studies, etc. Recipient must demonstrate financial need; completion of the FAFSA is recommended. The Director of Alumni Relations, the Director of Financial Aid, and the Chair of the Bible Department select the recipients. Two scholarships of $1,500 are awarded annually. Shari Boblitt Family Memorial Award* This scholarship was established by Terry ‘68 and Janice ‘68 Boblitt and Kevin ‘98 and Elizabeth ‘98 Boblitt and Randall Boblitt in loving memory of Shari Lynn Boblitt for the purpose of assisting a graduating Cedarville student in the pursuit of a post-graduate degree in Christian counseling. The recipient, selected by the psychology faculty, must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and demonstrate the potential to excel in the field of Christian counseling. Recipients of this award are selected by department faculty. One scholarship of $500 is awarded per year. William J and Nora J. Bolthouse Scholarship William and Nora Bolthouse established this scholarship in 1994. It is awarded to graduates of Bakersfield Christian High School, Bakersfield, California. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Scholarship amounts range from $2,000 up to 50% of tuition, room, and board, depending upon the applicant’s financial need. Ruby E. Booher Bontrager Memorial Endowed Fund William and Ruby Bontrager established this scholarship in 1985 to assist students who have demonstrated financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Approximately four scholarships of $1,000 to $2,000 are awarded annually. Boyd Accounting Award* Imogene Boyd established this scholarship in 1982 to encourage excellence in accounting practices, including integrity, Christian testimony, and ethics. The scholarship recipients must be junior students majoring in accounting. Recipients of this award are selected by Business Department faculty; no application is necessary. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $100–$200. Joseph E. and DeLois Brown Scholarship Mr. William Poe established this scholarship in 2003 to honor his friend and business associate, Joseph E. Brown. The scholarship assists full-time advancing junior or senior students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Management, Marketing, or Management Information Systems. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional ability and potential to excel in their respective fields of study. Preference may be given to students who demonstrate financial need. If recipients continue to fulfill the scholarship criteria, the scholarship will be renewed in their senior year. Multiple scholarships of $2,500 are awarded annually. DeLois C. Brown Family Love Scholarship Joseph Brown established this scholarship in 2004 to lovingly honor his wife, DeLois. The scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipient. On average, two scholarships are awarded each year for approximately $1,500–2,100. Robert Orr Burns, Jr. Scholarship Fund Richard and Beverly Burns established this scholarship in 1996 in honor of Robert Orr Burns, Jr. The scholarship assists a student who is a mechanical engineering major and has completed two years at Cedarville and has a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $700–$1500. Burris Logistics Computer Science Award* This scholarship is provided by Burris Information Technology to assist students pursuing a degree in Computer Science who consistently demonstrate exemplary character in their personal, spiritual and academic pursuits. Preference will be given to students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, financial need, participation in community service and ministry opportunities, and contributions to the advancement of the computer science program. The Computer Science faculty selects the recipients, with approval from the Chair of the Department of Engineering and Computer Science. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. James Cain Special Education Award Dr. Cheryl Irish, Cedarville University Education professor, and her husband, James, established this scholarship in 2004 in loving memory of Cheryl’s father, James Cain. Recipients of this award must be full-time special education majors. Recipients must have completed at least one year at Cedarville. The award will go to a student who has demonstrated a heart for teaching children with special needs. Preference will be given to students who are involved with extracurricular activities that minister to special needs children and their families, who demonstrate financial need, and/ or students who have served in the military or whose parents have served in the military. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Ross and Gladys Campbell Scholarship Gladys Campbell established this scholarship in 1997 to assist full-time students majoring in Bible who are planning a career in ministry and who demonstrate financial need.
