Page 282 2010–11 Undergraduate Catalog Minor and Bernice Cross Scholarship Fund Minor and Bernice Cross established this scholarship in 1983 to assist students who have demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to members in good standing of Faith Baptist Church in Matton, IL or students of missionaries supported by that church. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipient. On average, three scholarships of approximately $1,700 are awarded per year. Cedarville University General Endowment Funds This scholarship fund exists because many generous donors have gifted part or all of their estate to Cedarville University or have established gift plans in order to financially assist students. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Multiple awards of various amounts are awarded annually based on student needs. Daniel Award* This award was established by David and Jean Heyd in 2001 to honor their parents, Charles and E. LaRue Wilcox and Elmer and Kathy Heyd. The scholarship assists a graduating full-time male senior student who has been accepted by a conservative evangelical seminary. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3, demonstrate the spiritual qualifications and godly leadership skills necessary to excel in this ministry, and plan to serve as full- time pastor of a church. Recipients of this award are selected by the Bible Department faculty; no application is necessary. One to two scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $2500–$5000. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Richard C. Davis Family Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2005 by the estate of Richard C. and Mary Davis as a memorial to Richard and Mary, a tribute to their late son, Mark A. Davis, and in appreciation to Reverend Dale Kurtz for the pastoral care he provided. Recipients must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has attended Cedarville for at least one academic year and has financial need. Approximately 5–10 scholarships are awarded each year, ranging from $1500–$2000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director will select the recipient. Doris Yvonne Dell Memorial Scholarship Award Established by Bernard Dell in loving memory of his wife, Doris Yvonne Dell, this four-year scholarship assists first-year students who are preparing for service in Church Music Ministry. The Department of Music and Art faculty coordinate scholarship auditions and make the final selection. If the student continues to pursue a career in Church Music and maintains satisfactory academic performance, the scholarship will be renewed every year, up to a maximum of four years. Preference is given to students with significant financial need. Irma M. Dodson Award* Established in 1982 by Irma M. Dodson, who served in the field of education for 50 years, this scholarship is granted to a full-time senior elementary education major with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Recipients must demonstrate consistent and outstanding ability in daily preparation and teaching excellence during their classroom, field, and student teaching experiences. They must also be involved in Christian service, displaying leadership qualities. Recipients of this award are selected by the Education Department faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500–$800. Dolph and Brown Psychology Award* This scholarship ws established in 1982 by Alcene Brown and Charles ‘74 and Teresa ‘82 Dolph to assist two full-time junior students majoring in psychology or behavioral science. Recipients must maintain an overall minimum GPA of 3.3, demonstrate a commitment to psychology, and display personal, interpersonal, and spiritual development. Scholarship award amount ranges from $400–$700. Recipients are selected by the Psychology Department faculty. Helen Drullinger Memorial Award* Dr. David Drullinger established this scholarship in 2000 in loving memory of his wife Helen Drullinger, who passed away in 1999. The scholarship assists married ministerial students. This award is granted to a male student enrolled in a Bible program and preparing for professional Christian ministry. He must have one year remaining in his academic program and have a minimum GPA of 3.3. Preference given to a married student whose wife is working to help pay for his college expenses. Recipients of this award are selected by the Bible Department faculty. One scholarship of approximately $1,200 is awarded annually. Robert Duchardt Athletic Training Scholarship Alumni and friends of the University established this endowed scholarship in 2008 to honor Robert Duchardt and to assist junior and senior students who are pursuing careers in the field of athletic training. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional commitment to the study of athletic training through their academic achievements and extracurricular participation. GPA should be 3.0 or higher (on 4.0 scale), and completion of the FAFSA is recommended. Selection for this scholarship will be conducted by the Athletic Training Department faculty as well as the Director of Financial Aid. Willis F. Early Business Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2003 by Richard Early in memory of his father, Willis F. Early, for the purpose of training Christian students in business. Recipients must be enrolled in a business program at Cedarville University. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director and Business Department Chair select the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,800 is awarded per year. Betty J. Early General Scholarship Dr. and Mrs. Richard Early established this scholarship in 2003 in honor of Richard’s mother, Betty J. Early. This scholarship is to assist full-time students with financial need in any major, except for majors within business. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1500–$2000. Erich W. Ebert Award* This scholarship was established by Clyde and Jean Autio in 1987 in loving memory of and in gratitude for the life and educational ministry of Jean’s father, Erich W. Ebert. The scholarship assists a senior student pursuing a career in Christian school education, preferably secondary education. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need. Recipients of this award are selected by the Chair of the Education Department and Department of Education faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500–$750. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended, but not required. Sharon Eimers Award* Established in 2000 by Dr. Leroy Eimers in loving memory of Dr. Sharon Eimers, this scholarship assists exceptional full-time junior or senior education majors. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication to teaching and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by Education Departmental faculty. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Nathan and Hazel Elder Scholarship Nathan and Hazel ‘24 Elder established this scholarship in 1997 to assist an English or Education major who has completed at least one year at Cedarville, has a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, and has financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. Two awards of approximately $1,500 are granted per year. Elementary Education Scholarship Established in 2008, this scholarship assists female students with financial need who are pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. One scholarship is awarded per year of approximately $1000. Elijah Fund This scholarship was established in 2006 to assist students with high financial need and very limited family support, yet who demonstrate good character and a commitment to Christian service. It was named The Elijah Fund” based on Elijah’s generosity and care for the widow and her son in 1 Kings 17. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Vice President for Student Services and Director of Financial Aid will select the recipients.” Dr. Charles Ellington Church Music and Worship John and Jean LeBlanc, and Jay D. ‘94 and Shannon LeBlanc established this scholarship in honor of Dr. Charles Ellington in 2000 to assist a full-time student majoring in Church Music Ministry with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. Recipients must have completed at least one year of study at Cedarville University. Preference given to those student who demonstrate financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship.
