GAR Foundation Summit County Scholarship This scholarship was established by the GAR Foundation in 1994 to assist full-time students with financial need who reside in Summit County, Ohio. Students who reside in northeastern Ohio may also be considered. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. Two to three scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1000–$3000. Gershom Scholarship Established in 2006, this scholarship assists children of full-time missionaries. First-year recipients must have a composite SAT (verbal/math of 1050 or an average composite ACT of 22; sophomore, junior, or senior recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to families currently serving in the Middle East. Students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. One to two scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $1000–$1500. Esther C. Gilbertson-Stone Scholarship Esther Stone established this scholarship in 1976 to assist preministerial or ministerial students with moral character, academic potential and demonstrated financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Two scholarships of approximately $2,000 are awarded annually. Godby Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established Eric Brock ‘99 in 2001 to honor his grandparents, Herbert and Evelyn Godby. Recipients must be a full-time student who are residents of Kentucky and demonstrate financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Two scholarships of approximately $1,200 are awarded per year. William and Rachel Grapentine Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1995 by William and Rachel Grapentine to assist students who intend to pursue a career in nursing or missionary service and who have financial need. The award is granted to a student who has completed at least one year at Cedarville and has a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference given to Michigan residents but not required. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid, Bible Department Chair, and Nursing Department Chair select the recipient. Two scholarships of approximately $1,500 are awarded per year. Harold R. Green Christian Ministries Award* This scholarship was established by the division of Christian ministries in honor of Dr. Harold R. Green for his twenty-five years of faithful service in leading the division. The scholarship assists graduating seniors who have shown faithfulness and leadership in the area of Christian ministry. Recipients of this award are selected by department staff. Two scholarships are awarded annually. Gugger Scholarship Established in 1997 by Paul and Ella Gugger, this scholarship is awarded to students selected by the University Administrative Council. The Administrative Council establishes the scholarship criteria each year. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Deborah Bush Haffey Intercollegiate Debate Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1992 by David ‘69 and Deborah ‘68 Haffey to assist full-time students who participate on the Cedarville University Intercollegiate Debate Team. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher. The Debate Team coach will recommend recipients and selection will be made by the Communication Arts Department Chairperson, the Forensics Team coach, and a member of the Communication Arts Department. One to four scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $500–$2500. Hugh T. Hall Memorial Scholarship* Helen Jones established this scholarship in 1996 to honor her late first husband Hugh T. Hall. The scholarship assists students pursing a degree in Bible who demonstrate exemplary Christian character, a love for and involvement with people, and a productive ministry in the Christian ministries program. He or she must also have expressed desire to pursue a professional ministry career in missions or the pastorate. Recipients must have completed two full year years at Cedarville and hold the academic rank of senior. Recipients of this award are selected by the Chair of the Bible Department as well as the Bible Department faculty; no application is necessary. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $200– $500. Note: Mrs. Jones keeps all recipients’ letters and pictures and prays for each one every week! Dr. Joseph Halsey Award* This scholarship was established in 1999 by Joel ‘98 and Krystee ‘97 LeBlanc to honor Dr. Joseph Halsey. The scholarship assists a full-time political science major who anticipates entering law school after completing their program of study. The recipient must have at least one year remaining in their program or study, must demonstrate the potential to excel in the political science program, and must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by department faculty. One scholarship is awarded annually. Morley Halsmith Memorial Scholarship* This award was established by Debra Halsmith to honor the life and ministry of her husband, Morley R. Halsmith, and to assist graduating seniors in the Church Music Ministries program. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and is planning a full-time career in church music ministry. The student must demonstrate exceptional musical and spiritual leadership abilities. Recipients of this award are selected by the Music Department faculty. One scholarships of $2,000 is awarded per year. Sandra W Harner Technical and Professional Communication Awd* This annually funded scholarship was established in 2008 by Sandra Harner ‘64 to assist exceptional students preparing for a career in technical and professional communication. Recipients must be pursuing a degree in an academic major in technical and professional communication, have at least one year of study remaining in their program, demonstrate financial need, and have a cumulative grade average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The Chair of the Department of Language and Literature will assign departmental faculty to make the annual selection in concert with the Director of Financial Aid. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if intersted in this scholarship. An average of one scholarship is awarded each year of $1,500. Stephen M. Harriman Memorial Award* This scholarship was established in 2007 by Earle and Donnabelle Harriman to honor the memory of their beloved, late son, Stephen ‘73, who was a Social Science major. Recipients must be history or history education majors, have at least one year remaining in their academic program, demonstrate spiritual maturity and leadership qualities, and maintain a 3.3 GPA or higher. The faculty of the Department of Social Science and History select the recipients. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded annually. Frank O. Harris Memorial Scholarship The Frank O. Harris Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 to assist students whose parents are full-time missionaries currently serving at the time of the award. Recipients must demonstrate significant financial need and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Approximately two scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $1000–$2000. Selection is made by the Director of Financial Aid. Marinus Hazen, Jr. Memorial Scholarship* Madlyn Hazen established this scholarship in 2003 in loving memory of her husband, Marinus Hazen, Jr. The scholarship assists graduating seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance. Recipients must have a GPA of at least 3.3 and demonstrate exceptional integrity, a strong Christian testimony, and consistent ethical behavior. Recipients of this award are selected by the Business Department faculty. No application is necessary. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Helping Hand Scholarship Mabel Walker established this scholarship in 1974 to assist students with financial need. William and Cora Norman Henry Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1983 by Geraldine Henry ‘34 to honor her parents, William and Cora Henry. The scholarship assists full-time students majoring in elementary education which demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students from Clark County, Ohio.
