Heritage Baptist Church Scholarship Daniel ‘80 and Julie Green ‘81 established this scholarship in 1997 to assist student members of Heritage Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida Recipients must submit a pastoral recommendation and a paper by July 1 each year detailing their spiritual goals for the coming year. Consideration given with pastoral recommendation to Lakeland Christian School students in the event that no students from Heritage Baptist Church are awarded the scholarship. Recipients must also complete a Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. One scholarship of approximately $2,000 is awarded per year. Heyd Math/Science Award* This award was established by David and Jean Heyd in 2001 to encourage and assist deserving University students and to honor their parents, Charles and E. LaRue Wilcox and Elmer and Kathy Heyd. The scholarship is awarded to full-time sophomore or junior students who are pursuing a degree within the department of science and mathematics. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and must demonstrate a balance between devotion and service to God and diligence in their academic studies. Financial need is not required but may be considered. Recipients of this award are selected by Science and Mathematics Department faculty. Two scholarships of $1,000 are awarded annually. Completion of FAFSA is recommended but not required. Raymond P. Holland, Jr. Engineering Excellence Award* Stephen and Linda Nelson established this scholarship in 2003 to honor Linda’s father, Raymond P. Holland, Jr, an aeronautical engineer whose passion for flight and creative aircraft designs helped advance aviation. The scholarship assists a full-time sophomore or junior engineering major who exhibit excellence, creativity, dedication and common sense in their studies and application of engineering principles. Recipients must have a 3.3 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. It is recommended that students submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Recipients of this award are selected by departmental faculty and the Financial Aid Director. One scholarship of $1,500 is awarded per year. Richard E. and Carole C. Holmes Engineering Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1994 by Richard and Carole Holmes. The scholarship is awarded to a student within the Department of Engineering and Computer Science who demonstrates a commitment to engineering and a capacity to contribute to the profession. Recipient must maintain a GPA that allows them to continue in the program and achieve reasonable and timely completion of the degree. The Director of Financial Aid and Engineering Department Chair select the recipients. Four to six scholarships are granted per year ranging from $1500– $2500. Holmes Family Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1997 by Richard and Carole Holmes to assist full-time students with financial need. Preference is given to graduates of Dayton Christian High School, Dayton, OH. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. On average, eight scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1000–$2000. Edward B. and Fauna B. Holmes Nursing Scholarship Richard and Carole Holmes established this scholarship in 1994 to honor Edward and Fauna Holmes. The scholarship is awarded to nursing majors with a commitment to nursing and a capacity to contribute to the nursing profession. Recipients must have a GPA that allows them to continue in the nursing program and achieve timely completion of a degree. The Nursing Department Chair and Director of Financial Aid select the recipient. Four to six scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1000–$4000. Reverend Michael Holt Memorial Scholarship* Deborah Holt ‘87 established this scholarship in 2006 to honor her late husband, Rev. Michael Holt. The scholarship assists a senior student in the Biblical Education department who is preparing for a career in the pastorate and who holds a 3.3 GPA or higher. Recipients must exhibit attributes that reflect the life ministry of Rev. Michael Holt including integrity and steadfastness, passion of Biblical study, and a zeal for preaching. Preference will be given to a married or non-traditional student. While not required, financial need may be considered . Recipients are selected by Bible Department faculty. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. “Harold P. Howdy” House Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1983 by Calvary Baptist Church of Byesville, OH in loving memory of their pastor, Harold P. Howdy” House. The scholarship assists a full-time junior or senior Bible student with financial need who intends to be a pastor or missionary and has previous preaching experience. The recipient must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Preference is given to members of Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Robert and Myrtle Hutchinson Scholarship Established in 1979 by the Hutchison family, this scholarship assists a full-time preseminary major with financial need and who plans to attend seminary. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Fiancial Aid Director and Bible faculty select the recipient. Rev. Henry and Lilian Hutchison Christian Education Award* This scholarship was established by Thomas ‘80 and Amy Hutchison to honor his parents, Henry and Lilian. The scholarship assists full-time junior and senior students pursuing a degree in Christian Education or Youth Ministry. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3, be actively involved in Christian ministries, have a demonstrated passion for ministry, and possess excellent potential for communicating the Word of God. Recipients of this award are nominated by the Christian Education and Youth Ministry faculty and selected by the Bible Department faculty. One scholarship is awarded each year ranging from $100–$250. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. IEEE Dayton Section Scholarship* The Dayton-Wright Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association established this scholarship to assist a sophomore or junior electrical engineering student. The recipient must demonstrate academic performance balanced with spiritual maturity and be engaged in activities and leadership in engineering organizations. Recipients of this award are selected by department faculty. International Student Organization Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2001 to assist international students. Recipient must have limited financial resources, must hold an F-1 student visa , and must not be a U.S. citizen. The Director of Financial Aid, the International Student Advisor and a designated school official will select the annual recipient. No application is necessary for this scholarship. James T. Jeremiah Award* This award was established in 1998 by the University administration to honor Dr. James T. Jeremiah for his many years of faithful service to Cedarville University. The recipient must be a full-time, senior Bible major who has a desire to enter a full-time pastoral ministry. The recipient must possess outstanding character qualities, be active in Christian ministries, and maintain a 3.3 GPA or higher. Selection is made by the Vice President for Christian Ministries and the Chair of the Bible Department. One scholarship is awarded annually ranging from $1500–$3000. Ruby Jeremiah Academic Scholarship* This award was established in 1978 by the faculty women of Cedarville University to honor Mrs. Ruby Jeremiah for more than twenty-five years of service to Cedarville and to continue her interest and support of married women completing their education at Cedarville University. The recipient must be a full- time junior or senior married woman with a minimum GPA of 3.3. She must be active in Christian service, student life, and have financial need. Recipients of this award are selected by a committee of women representatives established specifically for this award. Two awards are awarded annually ranging from $1000–$5000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and contact Kirsten Gibbs for an application if interested in this scholarship. Jersey Baptist Church Scholarship Jersey Baptist Church in Pataskala, OH established this scholarship in 2005 to assist students from Jersey Baptist Church and to challenge them to participate in Christian ministries. First consideration is given to members of the church who demonstrate a passion for Christian ministry and who have accumlated student loan debt. Second consideration is given to all other members of Jersey Baptist Church in Pataskala, OH. Thirdly, students with financial need who are not members of the church but who are passionate about Christian service may also be considered. To qualify, students must complete The Jersey Baptist Church Scholarship Application available in the Financial Aid office.
