Jewels for Students Scholarship Brittany (Smith) Napier ‘00 established this scholarship in 2003 in honor of her dear friend, Julie (Lamborn) Munro ‘00 to assist students who have exhausted all other resources in paying for their college education. Recipients must be full-time junior or senior students with an inability to finance their education after pursuing all forms of traditional financial aid. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. Approximately one scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1000–$2000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Dave Jones Memorial Soccer Award* This scholarship, established in 1998 by the friends and family of Dave Jones ‘84 in memory of his contribution to the soccer and ministry programs, is awarded to full-time junior or senior members of the men’s or women’s University soccer team. The recipient of this award must also be an active participant in the soccer program’s ministry and outreach program and have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by the soccer coaches and the Athletic Director. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500–$900. Diane Ren’ee Jones Memorial Scholarship Don and Linda Jones established this scholarship in 1994 in memory of their daughter, Diane, who was a Cedarville student when she passed away. The scholarship assists students who major in biological science or science education and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students must have completed at least one year at Cedarville and can receive this scholarship for up to three years. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipient. Approximately one scholarship is awarded each year ranging from $1000–$1300. Joseph Award* This scholarship was established by David and Jean Heyd to honor their parents Charles and E. LaRue Wilcox and Elmer and Kathryn Heyd. The scholarship assists a full-time junior male student who is pursuing an appropriate department of biblical education major for seminary training and who is planning to serve in the pastorate. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and demonstrate the spiritual qualifications and godly leadership skills necessary to excel in this ministry. Recipients of this award are selected by Bible Department faculty. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. William M. Junk and Frances Smith Junk Grant Willam and Frances Junk established this scholarship in 1976 to assist a freshman student with academic ability and financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1000–$1500. Kimberly Kerr Memorial Scholarship in Nursing* Charles Kerr established this scholarship in 1983 in loving memory of his daughter, Kimberly Kerr ‘75. This scholarship assists full-time junior or senior nursing students with financial need and who have a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Recipients must demonstrate scholastic achievement, excellent nursing abilities, superior communication skills, and Christian leadership. Recipients of this award are selected by the Nursing Department faculty and the Director of Financial Aid. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1500–$3000. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Kettering Medical Center Sponsorship and Grant Kettering Medical Center (KMC) established this scholarship in 2003 to assist junior or senior year nursing students who intend to pursue a full-time career in nursing after graduation. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need according to the criteria established by KMC and the university’s Director of Financial Aid. Students accepting the sponsorship portion of the scholarship will agree to employment terms with KMC upon graduation. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. A sponsorship application must also be completed and submitted to the Financial Aid office no later than April 1st. The Financial Aid Director, Nursing Department Chair, and KMC representatives select the recipients. Rusty King Memorial Scholarship* Elvin and Joyce King ‘64 established this scholarship in 1997 in loving memory of their son, Rusty King ‘88. This scholarship assists one female and one male student who have completed at least two seasons on the cross country team and intend to continue on the cross country team. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher and demonstrate exemplary Christian character. Financial need may be considered; completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Recipients of this scholarship are selected by the Director of Financial Aid, Athletic Director, and Varsity Cross Country Coach. Each scholarship award is $500–$1000. Kittyhawk AOC Chapter Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2003 by the Kittyhawk Chapter of the Association of Old Crows, which is an international professional organization comprised of academic, government ,and industry personnel dedicated to the preservation and advancement of Defensive Electronic Countermeasures. The scholarship is awarded to junior and senior students who are studying in the field of engineering or computer and information sciences. Recipients must demonstrate appropriate academic and professional credentials and a recognized financial need. The recipients must not have any aversion to defense related activities or accepting a scholarship from a defense related activity. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The computer science faculty, engineering faculty, and the Financial Aid Director select the recipients. Two scholarships of $1,000–$2,000 are awarded annually. Ruth Counter Klopfenstein, R.N. and A. Rees Klopfenstein, M.D. Nursing Education Endowed Scholarship Thomas and Joan Klopfenstein established this scholarship in 2002 to assist full-time junior and senior nursing students. Junior students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in basic sciences. Senior students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in professional nursing courses. Recipients must also demonstrate Christian character in their personal and professional life and a commitment to the nursing profession. Financial need may be considered; completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Preference will be given to students who received the scholarship in their junior year if they meet the above criteria. Recipients may receive the scholarship for a maximum of 2 years. The Chair of Nursing Department and the Nursing Department faculty select the recipients. Two scholarships of approximately $2,000 are awarded per year. Compton/Knight Family ROTC Scholarship Established by Harland and Pauline Knight in 2006, this scholarship assists freshmen involved in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. Recipients must be pursuing a degree under the Department of Nursing or Department of Engineering. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need and who achieve an SAT composite of 1260 (Math and Verbal portion only) or ACT composite of 28. The Director of Financial Aid, in consultation with ROTC recruitment personnel, selects the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify. One scholarship of $1200 is awarded each. Lillian Kresge Nursing Award* Mrs. Ethel Jeremiah established this scholarhip in 1984 in memory of her aunt, Lillian Kresge, a resident of Cedarville who devoted her life to a career as a Christian nurse. This scholarship assists a junior or senior nursing student with financial need and scholastic achievement. The recipient must also demonstrate a commitment to nursing, Chrisitan character, and leadership ability. Recipients of this award are selected by the Nursing Department faculty. One scholarship is awarded annually ranging from $200–$300. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Dr. Donald F. Kyle Memorial Scholarship Funded by the estate of Dr. Kyle, the University established this scholarship in 2007 to honor the locally well-known doctor, Donald F. Kyle, who served Cedarville and the surrounding community. Recipients must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing a degree in any academic program. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in a medical or health-related field. To qualify, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25, but those who have a 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale will be given precedence. Preference will also be given to residents of the State of Ohio. The recipient may receive the scholarship in subsequent years. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Language and Literature Alumni Award* Brandon ‘06 and Bethany ‘08 Colas established the Language and Literature Alumni Award as an Honors Day scholarship to recognize the academic achievements of exceptional juniors or seniors in the Department of Language and Literature. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. The Department of Language and Literature faculty will select the recipients. Recipients will receive this award for one year only. Loretta Lawrence Scholarship Cynthia Sutter-Tkel established this scholarship in 2001 to honor the memory of her grandmother, Loretta Lawrence. The scholarships assists a full-time junior or senior social work student who is mission minded and involved in an extracurricular ministry. Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
