Marvin and Janet Troyer Athletic Scholarship Drs. Tim and Wendy Troyer established this scholarship in 1999 in honor of his parents, Marvin ‘61 and Janet Troyer. The scholarship is awarded full-time students who are members of the women’s volleyball and/or women’s basketball team and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students pursuing a career in nursing, medicine or Christian ministry. Recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.5 on the 4.0 scale. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid, Athletic Director, and Women’s Volleyball and Basketball coaches select the recipients. Three to six scholarships are awarded per year approximately ranging from $2000–$8000. Dr. Donald Tyler Scholarship Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, IN established this scholarship in 2000 to honor their former pastor, Dr. Donald Tyler, who passed away in 2002. Reverend Tyler also served as a University trustee. The scholarship will assist students enrolled in a Bible program and preparing for ministry in the pastorate. The recipients must exhibit strong leadership and soul-winning abilities and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Chair of the Bible Department selects the recipients. One to two scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1000–$2000. Francis Varey Banks Nursing* This endowed scholarship was established in 2009 by Herbert and Judith Shrubsole to recognized the academic achievements of students pursuing a master of science of nursing degree with a global health ministry concentration. Recipients must be pursuing a master of science of nursing degree with a global health ministry concentration, have at least one year of study remaining in their academic program, and have a cumulative grade average of 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to students who are not citizens of the United States and who hold an F-1 student visa. The Department of Nursing Faculty will select the recipients. Kristi Lynn Walborn Award* This scholarship was established by the Walborn family in 1990 in loving memory of their daughter and sister, Kristi Lynn Walborn, who passed away while attending Cedarville. The scholarship assists a full-time sophomore or junior music major with an emphasis in voice or in music education voice emphasis. Secondary preference will go to students with a piano emphasis or music education piano emphasis. Recipients of this award are selected by the Music Department faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1000–$2500. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. C. Eugene Walker, Ph.D Psychology Award* This scholarship was established in 1999 by C. Eugene Walker, Ph.D. to assist a full- time junior or senior psychology or applied psychology majors. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 and demonstrate outstanding achievement in psychological studies and participate in research activities as well as engage in activities of the Department of Psychology. The recipient must also demonstrate a commitment to the field of psychology as evidenced by definite plans for graduate education in psychology. He or she must be involved in a Christian Ministry activity. Recipients of this award are nominated and selected by the Psychology Department faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $200–$400. W. David and Patricia Warren Pastors Scholarship This annually funded scholarship was established in 2009 by Ed ‘85 and Janice ‘86 (Warren) Supplee, Steve and Cheryl ‘90 (Warren) Brugel, David ‘93 and Michelle ‘93 (Ferrigno) Warren, Mark ‘98 and Darcie ‘99 (Blakemore) Warren to honor the ministry of their parents, W. David and Patricia Warren, and to assist the children of pastors. Recipients must be juniors or seniors who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree, be children of full time pastors, and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to children of pastors whose church is affiliated with the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches (OARBC). Preference will also be given to students who demonstrate a heart for ministry through involvement in Christian ministry projects or articulation of future career goals. The Director of Financial Aid will select the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. An average of two scholarships are awarded each year of $1,500. James and Ruby Wells Scholarship James and Ruby Wells established this scholarship in 2002 to assist an attendee of Haxtun Berean Bible Church of Haxtun, Colorado. Recipients shall be full-time students of Cedarville maintaining satisfactory academic progress. If there are no recipients meeting this criteria, all other CU students will be considered who have financial need and excel academically. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Two to three scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $2500–$6000. Samuel L. Westerman Foundation Scholarship Established by the Samuel L. Westerman Foundation in 2006, this endowed scholarship assists junior and senior students who are pursuing careers in nursing or special education and who engage in volunteer work at the University or in the community. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher and demonstrate financial need. Residents of Michigan will be shown preference. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipients. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1600–$1700. Wickerham Memorial Endowed Grant James ‘28 and Ruth Wickerham ‘24established this scholarship in 1985 through their estate to assist students with financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Nine scholarships are awarded annually. Stephen J. Wildasin Memorial Scholarship Harry and Elaine Wildasin, along with their sons, Matthew and David, and their daughter Mary Dellow, established this scholarship in 1997 in memory of Stephen J. Wildasin to honor his life and Christian testimony. Stephen was a Cedarville biology major when he died in a car accident during his senior year. The scholarship assists biology majors who demonstrate financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded annually. Rev. and Mrs. Earl V. Willetts Scholarship The Willetts family established this scholarship in 1974 as a 50th wedding anniversary gift for their parents, Earl and Rosa. The scholarship assists students with financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Finacial Aid selects the recipients. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $700–$1000. Women for Scholarship This annually funded scholarship was established in 2009 by the Women for Scholarship, a volunteer organization which seeks to raise scholarship funding to support Cedarville University students. Recipients must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any academic program. The scholarship will benefit annually one freshman, one sophomore, one junior, and one senior. The selection committee will select an incoming freshman annually. If the recipient continues to meet the scholarship criteria, the scholarship may be renewed for up to three additional years, benefiting the recipient a total of four years. In the first year, recipients must demonstrate financial need. However, financial need will not be a consideration for renewal for the scholarship in subsequent years. Incoming freshman candidates must have a minimum ACT score of 23 (or the SAT equivalent) to qualify. To renew the scholarship for the sophomore year, recipients must have achieved a cumulative grade average of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale. To renew the scholarship for the junior and senior years, recipients must maintain a cumulative grade average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Appointed representatives from the Women for Scholarship Organization will select the recipients, in consultation with the Director of Financial Aid. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. An average of four scholarships are awarded each year of $2,000 each. Dr. and Mrs. Duane Wood Family Award* Dr. Duane and and Sharon Wood established this scholarship in 1988 to assist students who have evidenced Christian character, leadership on campus, academic achievement, and varsity athletic performance. The recipients must be full-time senior students with a minimum GPA of 3.3. Preference is given to students with financial need. The selection committee consists of the Athletic Director, Dean of the School of Health and Human Performance, and a representative of the Wood family.
