World Missions Scholarship Charles and Anita Petersen established this scholarship in 2003 to assist students planning to enter full-time missions under the authority of a recognized Christian organization that provides appropriate accountability and support. Primary consideration is given to students who are planning to enter the foreign mission field immediately following graduation. Secondary consideration may be given to students planning to complete seminary before entering the mission field or to students planning to serve in the domestic mission field. Recipients must possess aptitude to excel in missionary service, evidenced by their ministry experience, spiritual maturity, and academic performance. Preference is given to students with financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. On average, five scholarships ranging from $2000–$4000 are awarded per year. Recipients are selected by the Bible Department faculty and Director of Financial Aid. G. Marvin Wright Endowed Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established by Flossie D. Wright and Barbara Wright Sengpiehl to honor G. Marvin Wright, loving husband and father. The scholarship is awarded to full-time students who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, have financial need, and are engaged in a student ministry though the Christian Ministries Department. Recipients must have completed at least one academic year at Cedarville. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Director of Financial Aid selects the recipient. Six to eight scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1000–$2,500. Yellow Jackets Men’s Soccer Scholarship This annually funded scholarship was established in 2009 by an anonymous donor. The male recipients of this scholarship must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and must be a member in good standing of the University Men’s Soccer Team. The Athletic Director, in consultation with the Men’s Soccer Coach, will select the recipients. The average scholarship award is $1,500. Gladys York Memorial Scholarship Al and Joanna Stevens established this scholarship in 1994 in honor of Joanna’s mother, Gladys York. It was established in order to assist students from Calvary Baptist Church in Little Egg Harbor Twp, NJ who are recommended by the pastor and who have financial need. New applicants must write a paper detailing their spiritual and academic goals for the year along with long-term career aspirations. The essay must be completed by July 1 of each year. Students should also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. To renew the scholarship, selected recipients must then write an essay discussing what they accomplished that year regarding their established goals and establish new goals for the upcoming year. Recipients must also maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. Secondary consideration is given to other residents of New Jersey provided an essay and pastoral recommendation is submitted. Gladys York Memorial Scholarship for King’s Christian School Al and Joanna Stevens established this scholarship in 2000 in memory of Joanna’s mother, Gladys York,to assist graduates of King’s Christian School in New Jersey. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and must submit a paper by July 1 detailing their spiritual, academic, and professional goals. To renew, recipients must submit an annual paper detailing what they have accomplished in terms of previously established goals and establish new goals for the upcoming year in same categories. Students should also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipients. Zehr Family Scholarship This scholarship was established by the Zehr family in 2000 to assist full-time students with financial need who graduated from Black Hawk Christian School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The Financial Aid Director selects the recipient. Two scholarships are awarded per year; average scholarship award range is $1500–$2200. Zondervan/Cedarville University Greek Award* Zondervan Publishing House established this award in 2000 to recognize the student having the highest grade average in elementary Greek. The recipient is awarded the Zondervan Greek Concordance. William D. Ford Federal Direct Loans Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan Federal Stafford Student Loan funds are available to dependent and independent undergraduate students. Requests for loan assistance from this program may be made through the FAFSA. Cedarville University processes applications electronically through the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation and its participating lenders. Applications will be mailed directly to the student from the guarantee agency. The federal government will subsidize (pay) the interest on loans while the student is in school and during a six month grace period following withdrawal or graduation if the student has demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA calculations. Interest rate for the Subsidized Stafford loans will be 4.5% in 2010–11, 3.4% in 2011–12, and back to the original 6.8% in 2012–13. Freshmen can borrow a maximum of $3,500, sophomores $4,500, and juniors and seniors $5,500. Loan origination and insurance fees totaling 1% of the loan amount will be deducted by the lender. Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Student Loan funds are available to students who do not qualify for all or part of the need-based subsidized Stafford Loan. The annual loan limits are the same, as stated above, for the subsidized, unsubsidized, or any combination of the two programs. In this program, all the terms are the same as the subsidized Stafford; however, the federal government does not cover the interest expenses while the student is in school or during the six-month grace period. The student does have the option to defer interest payments during in-school and grace periods; however, the interest continues to accrue. Independent students are eligible to borrow additional funds through the Unsubsidized Stafford. Freshmen and sophomores may borrow an additional $4,000 and juniors and seniors may borrow an additional $5,000 per year. Interest rate for this loan is 6.8%. Loan origination and insurance fees totalling 1% of the loan will be deducted by the lender. Federal Additional Unsubsidized Stafford Loan A new loan program that was started in the 2008–09 school year which allows students to borrow an additional $2,000 for each academic year. This is in addition to the base Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans that are previously described. Eligibility, repayment, cancellation, and deferment criteria are the same as for the original Stafford loans. Interest rate for this loan is 6.8%.
