The scholarship assists an outstanding full-time senior majoring in education who exemplifies the values of the department, including academic excellence, youth involvement, and Christian ministry. The recipient must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 or higher and have an effective ongoing ministry to young people during their tenure at Cedarville University. Preference will be given to those students planning to teach overseas. One scholarship recipients will be selected each year by the department faculty. The average scholarship award range is $700–$900. No application is necessary, but completion of FAFSA is recommended. Kimberly S. Ahlgrim Counseling Scholarship* Jennifer L. Castellani ’02 established this scholarship in 2007 to honor the extraordinary woman and work of Kimberly S. Ahlgrim who ministered as a professional counselor for 15 years in the University’s counseling services department. The scholarship is awarded to a senior psychology, applied psychology, or social work major who has demonstrated commitment to the field by definite plans to attend graduate school shortly after graduation to become a minimum of a master’s level therapist. Recipients must also maintain a 3.5 GPA and have financial need. Preference is given to students who are engaged in a ministry related to the counseling field. Students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Recipients are selected by the psychology and social work faculty in consultation with the director of financial aid. One scholarship of $1,500 is awarded per year. Alumni Honors Scholarship* Established by the alumni council and funded by alumni, this endowed fund helps outstanding students continue their education at Cedarville. Each academic department selects one student from their department who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree within that academic department and is most deserving of academic recognition. Recipients must have at least one year of study remaining at CU. Recipients of this award are nominated and selected by department faculty; no application is necessary. Average award is $1,000 per award. Alumni Softball Scholarship This scholarship was established in order to aid full-time students in good standing with Cedarville University who are members of the CU softball team. The softball coach selects the recipients. One to two scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,500–$4,500. Alumni Spanish Majors Scholarship* A university graduate established this scholarship to assist full-time sophomore, junior, or senior students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Spanish or MA Spanish education who have financial need and a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. Preference will be given to students who have been accepted for study abroad programs in Spanish for a summer term or semester as well as to students who are active in outreach ministries. Recipients of this award are selected by the chair and faculty of the English, literature, and modern languages department. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $800–$1,300. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Amstutz Management Sales Award* Myron and Pauline Amstutz established this scholarship in 1980 to assist junior or senior students majoring in business administration who have a 3.3 GPA or higher. Preference is given to students with financial need. Recipients are selected by department faculty; no application is necessary. One scholarship is awarded per year. Amstutz Nursing Award* Established in 1981 by Mr. Myron E. Amstutz, this scholarship assists a junior or senior nursing major who has a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by department faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year. Anderson Family Scholarship* This scholarship was established in 1987 by Robert and Marylin Anderson to assist a female student with a concentration in a foreign language and an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipient should be in good standing with the university. Approximately one scholarship is awarded each year; average scholarship range is $700–$1,300; . Recipients of this award are selected by faculty chairs. Anonymous Scholarship This annually funded scholarship was established in 2009 by an anonymous donor to assist students with exceptional financial need. Recipients must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree and must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who are unable to continue at the University without financial assistance. The director of financial aid will select the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. An average of 15 scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Armstrong Family Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1984 by Mary G. Armstrong to honor her late husband Mead C. Armstrong. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student majoring in biblical education and interested in full-time Christian service. Recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. Two scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Nathan R. Arnold Accounting Award* This scholarship was established by Robert and Brenda Arnold in 2005 to honor their son, Nathan ’05. The scholarship assists a sophomore or junior student majoring in accounting with a GPA of 3.5 and who demonstrates Christian character. Recipients of this award are selected by departmental faculty; no application is necessary. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Robert Atkinson Memorial Scholarship Timothy and Carol Roden established this scholarship in 1988 to assist a full-time juniors majoring in political science, history or music. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher and be involved in ministry and community service. Preference is given to members of Licking County Grace Brethren Church or East Side Grace Brethren Church in Blacklick, Ohio or a child of a current missionary. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded annually ranging from $500–$1,000. Autio Family Scholarship Established by Clyde and Jean Autio in 2002, this endowed scholarship assists juniors and seniors who are pursuing careers in the fields of engineering, nursing, or education. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate significant financial need. The director of financial aid and department faculty nominate students for consideration. Nominated students are invited to complete an application documenting their understanding and passion to be a marketplace Christian. Students must also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Final selection will be made by the director of financial aid. Average scholarship award is $1,500; approximately six awards each year. Arline Littleton Autio Award* This scholarship was established by Clyde and Jean Autio in 1987 in loving memory of and in gratitude for the life and educational ministry of Clyde’s mother, Arline Littleton Autio. The scholarship assists a senior student pursing a bachelors degree in elementary education and also planning to continue in a career in public school education. Recipient should demonstrate financial need and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipients must also effectively be engaged in a regular ministry to young people while attending Cedarville. Average scholarship award is $500; one award per year. Recipients are selected by the education department faculty. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended. Bartlett Family Early Childhood Education Scholarship David and Linda Barlett established this scholarship in 2000 in honor of Linda Bartlett, to assist a full-time student majoring in Early Childhood Education who plans to teach kindergarten. The recipient must demonstrate potential to excel as a classroom teacher, have completed one year at Cedarville and must maintain a GPA of 2.5. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid and education faculty select the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Bartlett Family Nursing Scholarship Established in 2000 by David and Linda Bartlett, and Bradley ’98 and Tonya ’97 Bartlett, in honor of Tonya Bartlett ’97, this scholarship assists a full-time student majoring in nursing who has financial need. The recipient must have completed one year at Cedarville and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid and nursing faculty select the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Bartlett Family Technical and Professional Communications Scholarship David and Linda Bartlett and Bradley ’98 and Tonya ’97 Bartlett established this scholarship in honor of Bradley Bartlett ’98, to assist a full-time student majoring in Technical and Professional Communication who has financial need. The recipient must have completed one year at Cedarville and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year.
