Preference is given to students whose parents are not engaged in Christian ministry and who have cystic fibrosis or a learning disability. Recipients must maintain an above average GPA. Recipients must also show genuine dedication to the Lord’s work and possess adequate gifts to be successful in that pursuit. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. One to three scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $700–$1,500. Christian Education Scholarship Charles and Anita Petersen established this scholarship in 2004 to assist students pursing a degree in Education with accumulated student loan debt, financial need, and a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Recipients must also desire to teach in Christian elementary or secondary institutions and demonstrate exceptional ability in the field of teaching. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. On average, two scholarships ranging from $2,000–$3,000 are awarded per year. Selections will be made by the director of financial aid. Christian Service and Academic Excellence Award* Established by Stephen Brown ’67 in 2006, this endowed scholarship assists students who demonstrate faithful Christian service and academic excellence. Recipients must be sophomore, junior, or senior students with a GPA of 3.3 or higher. The vice president for Christian ministries selects the recipients. No application is required. David H. and Edith W. Clark Scholarship This scholarship was established by David H. Clark in 1994 to assist students with financial need. The scholarship is awarded to a student who has completed one year at Cedarville and has a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students may receive this scholarship for up to three years. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. About 20 scholarships of approximately $1,500–2,000 are awarded each year. Charles and Margaret Clevenger Piano Award* This award was established in 2001 by Dr. Charles Clevenger to honor his parents, Charles E. and Margaret Clevenger, whose love and encouragement have shaped him as an artist and educator. Recipients must be full-time junior or senior students who are pursuing a degree in music with piano as the principal instrument. Recipients must demonstrate exemplary musical stewardship and Christian character and have a 3.3 GPA or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by the chair of the music and worship department in consultation with the department faculty. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Compton/Knight Family Music Scholarship* This scholarship was established in 2005 by Harland and Pauline Knight to assist sophomore, junior, or senior students who demonstrate extraordinary potential to excel as a classroom teacher for vocal and/or or instrumental music. Recipients must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Music Education with plans to teach vocal or instrumental music, have completed at least one year of study at Cedarville, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Preference will be given to students with financial need. Recipients are selected by the director of financial aid and music department faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended, but not required. Computer Science Missions Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2001 to assist a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student who is majoring in computer science and who served on a missions trip or internship during the previous summer break. The missions trip or internship may be sponsored by the University or another Christian organization. This scholarship is intended to offset a portion of the lost wages a student experiences because he or she served on a missions trip. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need, but it will not be required. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The computer science faculty, in consultation with the financial aid department, select the recipient. The Computer Science Scholarship Endowment Established by Cedarville University in 2005 and funded by friends of the University, this scholarship assists students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Recipients will be selected by the computer science faculty, subject to the approval of the department of engineering and computer science chair. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Conklin Endowed Scholarship This endowed scholarship was established in 2009 by Jeffrey Conklin ’79, executor of the estate of Alice Conklin, to provide financial assistance to student athletes. Recipients must be sophomores, juniors or seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree, must be an active participant in the University’s inter-varsity athletic program, and must demonstrate financial need. The director of financial aid and the athletic director will select the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Typically, one scholarship is awarded each year of $1,500. Robert and Janet Conway Nursing Award* This annually funded scholarship was established in 2008 by Robert and Janet Conway to recognize excellence in nursing and assist students with financial need. Recipients must be seniors who are pursuing a degree in nursing, have at least one year of study remaining in their program, demonstrate financial need, have a cumulative grade average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate excellence in clinical practice. The department of nursing faculty and the director of financial aid select the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. An average of one scholarship is awarded each year of $1,500. Criminal Justice Scholarship This scholarship was established by Jeff and Rebecca Cone ’94 in 1995 to assist students pursuing a career in law enforcement. The scholarship is awarded to a senior criminal justice major who is involved in Christian service and demonstrates exemplary Christian character and financial need. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Minor and Bernice Cross Scholarship Fund Minor and Bernice Cross established this scholarship in 1983 to assist students who have demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to members in good standing of Faith Baptist Church in Matton, Illinois or students of missionaries supported by that church. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. On average, three scholarships of approximately $1,700 are awarded per year. Cedarville University General Endowment Funds This scholarship fund exists because many generous donors have gifted part or all of their estate to Cedarville University or have established gift plans in order to financially assist students. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Multiple awards of various amounts are awarded annually based on student needs. Daniel Award* This award was established by David and Jean Heyd in 2001 to honor their parents, Charles and E. LaRue Wilcox and Elmer and Kathy Heyd. The scholarship assists a graduating full-time male senior student who has been accepted by a conservative evangelical seminary. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3, demonstrate the spiritual qualifications and godly leadership skills necessary to excel in this ministry, and plan to serve as full-time pastor of a church. Recipients of this award are selected by the biblical and ministry studies department faculty; no application is necessary. One to two scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $2,500–$5,000. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Richard C. Davis Family Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2005 by the estate of Richard C. and Mary Davis as a memorial to Richard and Mary, a tribute to their late son, Mark A. Davis, and in appreciation to Reverend Dale Kurtz for the pastoral care he provided. Recipients must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has attended Cedarville for at least one academic year and has financial need. Approximately 5–10 scholarships are awarded each year, ranging from $1,500–$2,000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid will select the recipient. Doris Yvonne Dell Memorial Scholarship Award Established by Bernard Dell in loving memory of his wife, Doris Yvonne Dell, this four-year scholarship assists first-year students who are preparing for service in church music ministry. The department of music and worship faculty coordinate scholarship auditions and make the final selection. If the student continues to pursue a career in church music and maintains satisfactory academic performance, the scholarship will be renewed every year, up to a maximum of four years. Preference is given to students with significant financial need.
