Michael Holt. The scholarship assists a senior student in the Biblical Education department who is preparing for a career in the pastorate and who holds a 3.3 GPA or higher. Recipients must exhibit attributes that reflect the life ministry of Rev. Michael Holt including integrity and steadfastness, passion of Biblical study, and a zeal for preaching. Preference will be given to a married or non-traditional student. While not required, financial need may be considered . Recipients are selected by biblical and ministry studies department faculty. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. “Harold P. Howdy” House Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1983 by Calvary Baptist Church of Byesville, OH in loving memory of their pastor, Harold P. Howdy” House. The scholarship assists a full-time junior or senior Bible student with financial need who intends to be a pastor or missionary and has previous preaching experience. The recipient must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Preference is given to members of Calvary Baptist Church. Dr. Robert and Myrtle Hutchinson Scholarship Established in 1979 by the Hutchison family, this scholarship assists a full-time preseminary major with financial need and who plans to attend seminary. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The financial aid director and Bible faculty select the recipient. Rev. Henry and Lilian Hutchison Christian Education Award* This scholarship was established by Thomas ’80 and Amy Hutchison to honor his parents, Henry and Lilian. The scholarship assists full-time junior and senior students pursuing a degree in christian education or youth ministry. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3, be actively involved in Christian ministries, have a demonstrated passion for ministry, and possess excellent potential for communicating the Word of God. Recipients of this award are nominated by the Christian education and youth ministry faculty and selected by the biblical and ministry studies department faculty. One scholarship is awarded each year ranging from $100–$250. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. IEEE Dayton Section Scholarship* The Dayton-Wright Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association established this scholarship to assist a sophomore or junior electrical engineering student. The recipient must demonstrate academic performance balanced with spiritual maturity and be engaged in activities and leadership in engineering organizations. Recipients of this award are selected by department faculty. International Student Organization Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2001 to assist international students. Recipient must have limited financial resources, must hold an F-1 student visa , and must not be a U.S. citizen. The director of financial aid, the International Student Advisor and a designated school official will select the annual recipient. No application is necessary for this scholarship. James T. Jeremiah Award* This award was established in 1998 by the University administration to honor Dr. James T. Jeremiah for his many years of faithful service to Cedarville University. The recipient must be a full-time, senior bible major who has a desire to enter a full-time pastoral ministry. The recipient must possess outstanding character qualities, be active in Christian ministries, and maintain a 3.3 GPA or higher. Selection is made by the vice president for Christian ministries and the chair of the biblical and ministry studies department. One scholarship is awarded annually ranging from $1,500–$3,000. Ruby Jeremiah Academic Scholarship* This award was established in 1978 by the faculty women of Cedarville University to honor Mrs. Ruby Jeremiah for more than twenty-five years of service to Cedarville and to continue her interest and support of married women completing their education at Cedarville University. The recipient must be a full- time junior or senior married woman with a minimum GPA of 3.3. She must be active in Christian service, student life, and have financial need. Recipients of this award are selected by a committee of women representatives established specifically for this award. Two awards are awarded annually ranging from $1,000–$5,000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and contact Kirsten Gibbs for an application if interested in this scholarship. Jersey Baptist Church Scholarship Jersey Baptist Church in Pataskala, Ohio established this scholarship in 2005 to assist students from Jersey Baptist Church and to challenge them to participate in Christian ministries. First consideration is given to members of the church who demonstrate a passion for Christian ministry and who have accumlated student loan debt. Second consideration is given to all other members of Jersey Baptist Church in Pataskala, Ohio. Thirdly, students with financial need who are not members of the church but who are passionate about Christian service may also be considered. To qualify, students must complete The Jersey Baptist Church Scholarship Application available in the financial aid department. Students should also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Multiple scholarships of $500 are awarded each year. Jewels for Students Scholarship Brittany (Smith) Napier ’00 established this scholarship in 2003 in honor of her dear friend, Julie (Lamborn) Munro ’00, to assist students who have exhausted all other resources in paying for their college education. Recipients must be full-time junior or senior students with an inability to finance their education after pursuing all forms of traditional financial aid. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Approximately one scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Dave Jones Memorial Soccer Award* This scholarship, established in 1998 by the friends and family of Dave Jones ’84 in memory of his contribution to the soccer and ministry programs, is awarded to full-time junior or senior members of the men’s or women’s University soccer team. The recipient of this award must also be an active participant in the soccer program’s ministry and outreach program and have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by the soccer coaches and the athletic director. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500–$900. Diane Renée Jones Memorial Scholarship Don and Linda Jones established this scholarship in 1994 in memory of their daughter, Diane, who was a Cedarville student when she passed away. The scholarship assists students who major in biological science or science education and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students must have completed at least one year at Cedarville and can receive this scholarship for up to three years. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. Approximately one scholarship is awarded each year ranging from $1,000–$1,300. Joseph Award* This scholarship was established by David and Jean Heyd to honor their parents Charles and E. LaRue Wilcox and Elmer and Kathryn Heyd. The scholarship assists a full-time junior male student who is pursuing an appropriate department of biblical education major for seminary training and who is planning to serve in the pastorate. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and demonstrate the spiritual qualifications and godly leadership skills necessary to excel in this ministry. Recipients of this award are selected by biblical and ministry studies department faculty. One scholarship of $1,000 is awarded per year. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. William M. Junk and Frances Smith Junk Grant Willam and Frances Junk established this scholarship in 1976 to assist a freshman student with academic ability and financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$1,500. Kimberly Kerr Memorial Scholarship in Nursing* Charles Kerr established this scholarship in 1983 in loving memory of his daughter, Kimberly Kerr ’75. This scholarship assists full-time junior or senior nursing students with financial need and who have a GPA of 3.3 or higher. Recipients must demonstrate scholastic achievement, excellent nursing abilities, superior communication skills, and Christian leadership. Recipients of this award are selected by the nursing department faculty and the director of financial aid. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,500–$3,000. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required.
