Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to students demonstrating financial need according to the criteria established by KMC and the university’s director of financial aid. Students accepting the sponsorship portion of the scholarship will agree to employment terms with KMC upon graduation. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. A sponsorship application must also be completed and submitted to the financial aid department no later than April 1st. The director of financial aid, nursing department chair, and KMC representatives select the recipients. Rusty King Memorial Scholarship* Elvin and Joyce King ’64 established this scholarship in 1997 in loving memory of their son, Rusty King ’88. This scholarship assists one female and one male student who have completed at least two seasons on the cross country team and intend to continue on the cross country team. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.3 or higher and demonstrate exemplary Christian character. Financial need may be considered; completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Recipients of this scholarship are selected by the director of financial aid, athletic director, and varsity cross country coach. Each scholarship award is $500–$1,000. Kittyhawk AOC Chapter Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2003 by the Kittyhawk Chapter of the Association of Old Crows, which is an international professional organization comprised of academic, government,and industry personnel dedicated to the preservation and advancement of defensive electronic countermeasures. The scholarship is awarded to junior and senior students who are studying in the field of engineering or computer and information sciences. Recipients must demonstrate appropriate academic and professional credentials and a recognized financial need. The recipients must not have any aversion to defense-related activities or accepting a scholarship from a defense- related activity. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The computer science faculty, engineering faculty, and the director of financial aid select the recipients. Two scholarships of $1,000–$2,000 are awarded annually. Ruth Counter Klopfenstein, R.N. and A. Rees Klopfenstein, M.D. Nursing Education Endowed Scholarship Thomas and Joan Klopfenstein established this scholarship in 2002 to assist full-time junior and senior nursing students. Junior students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in basic sciences. Senior students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in professional nursing courses. Recipients must also demonstrate Christian character in their personal and professional life and a commitment to the nursing profession. Financial need may be considered; completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. Preference will be given to students who received the scholarship in their junior year if they meet the above criteria. Recipients may receive the scholarship for a maximum of 2 years. The chair of nursing department and the nursing department faculty select the recipients. Two scholarships of approximately $2,000 are awarded per year. Compton/Knight Family ROTC Scholarship Established by Harland and Pauline Knight in 2006, this scholarship assists freshmen involved in the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. Recipients must be pursuing a degree under the department of nursing or department of engineering and computer science. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need and who achieve an SAT composite of 1260 (Math and Verbal portion only) or ACT composite of 28. The director of financial aid, in consultation with ROTC recruitment personnel, selects the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify. One scholarship of $1,200 is awarded each. Lillian Kresge Nursing Award* Mrs. Ethel Jeremiah established this scholarship in 1984 in memory of her aunt, Lillian Kresge, a resident of Cedarville who devoted her life to a career as a Christian nurse. This scholarship assists a junior or senior nursing student with financial need and scholastic achievement. The recipient must also demonstrate a commitment to nursing, Christian character, and leadership ability. Recipients of this award are selected by the nursing department faculty. One scholarship is awarded annually ranging from $200–$300. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Dr. Donald F. Kyle Memorial Scholarship Funded by the estate of Dr. Kyle, the University established this scholarship in 2007 to honor the locally well-known doctor, Donald F. Kyle, who served Cedarville and the surrounding community. Recipients must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing a degree in any academic program. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in a medical or health-related field. To qualify, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25, but those who have a 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale will be given precedence. Preference will also be given to residents of the State of Ohio. The recipient may receive the scholarship in subsequent years. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Language and Literature Alumni Award* Brandon ’06 and Bethany Colas ’08 established the Language and Literature Alumni Award as an honors day scholarship to recognize the academic achievements of exceptional juniors or seniors in the department of English, literature, and modern languages. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. The department of English, literature, and modern languages faculty will select the recipients. Recipients will receive this award for one year only. Loretta Lawrence Scholarship Cynthia Sutter-Tkel established this scholarship in 2001 to honor the memory of her grandmother, Loretta Lawrence. The scholarships assists a full-time junior or senior social work student who is mission minded and involved in an extracurricular ministry. Recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. The Social Work faculty select the recipient. One $200 scholarship is awarded per year. Mary Jane LeBlanc Missions Award* John and Jean LeBlanc established this scholarship in 2002 in memory of John’s mother, Mary Jane. The scholarship assists full-time junior or senior female students preparing for full-time missionary service who have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. Preference is given to students with financial need, but it is not required. Recipients of this award are selected by the biblical and ministry studies department faculty and the director of financial aid. Completion of the FAFSA is recommended but not required. One scholarship of $1,500 is awarded per year. Nelson L. and Vera B. Lee Scholarship Nelson and Vera Lee established this scholarship in 1993 to assist students preparing for the pastoral ministry or the mission field, teaching in a Christian school, or other full-time vocational Christian work. Recipients must have attended Cedarville at least one year and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Approximately five scholarships are awarded annually. Dorothy Hilma Leininger Nursing Scholarship* This endowed annual scholarship was established by Dr. Wayne E. Leininger in 1989 to honor his wife, Dorothy Hilma Leininger, in gratitude for her life and ministry. The award is granted to a full-time nursing student, sophomore or higher, preparing to enter the nursing profession as a career missionary. The recipient demonstrates well-rounded interests and involvements, an exemplary Christian testimony, active Christian service, Christian principles, compassion and care for others, and financial need. Recipients of this scholarship are selected by the chair and faculty of the nursing department. Approximately two scholarships are awarded annually ranging from $1,500–$4,000. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. William M. and Ruth Ann Lewis College Assistance William M. and Ruth Ann Lewis established this scholarship in 1987 to assist full- time students with financial need. Preference given to students from southeastern Ohio. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA to qualify. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Light in the World Scholarship The Class of 2009 established the Light in the World Scholarship as an endowed scholarship to commemorate the opening of the center for biblical and theological studies. Recipients must be junior and/or senior students in good standing with the University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any academic program. Recipients must demonstrate financial need, display Christian character in ministry, and must maintain a GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify.
