Nutter Memorial Scholarship Established by the Nutter family in memoriam of Ervin J. Nutter, this scholarship assists full-time junior and senior students who are pursuing a degree under the department of engineering and computer science and who have financial need. Candidates must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The director of financial aid selects the recipient. Three to four scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Richard and Mary Olsen Scholarship Fund Richard and Mary Olsen established this scholarship in 1994 to assist students with financial need who have completed two years at Cedarville and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Three to five scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Ormsbee Family Scholarship The Ormsbee family established the scholarship to honor the memory of their parents/grandparents, Marcus and Ethel Ormsbee. Recipients must be sophomore or junior students in good standing with the University pursuing a major from the education department or the biblical and ministry studies department. Preference will be given to students demonstrating the greatest financial need. Secondary preference will be given to students who are, at the time of selection, members of a music group in the music and worship department or the Christian Ministries Division, including MIS Music teams. Recipients must have a cumulative GPA between 2.5–3.2 on a 4.0 scale. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. One scholarship is awarded each year of approximately $1,000. Pastoral Studies Scholarship This endowed scholarship was established in 1995 to reduce the student loan debt of exceptional students who are pursuing a degree in the department of biblical and ministry studies and are preparing for service in the pastorate. Recipients must be seniors who are preparing for service in the pastorate, have accumulated loan debt, and demonstrate exceptional ability and passion for pastoral studies. Preference is given to students who are planning to attend seminary. The biblical and ministry studies department faculty and the director of financial aid select the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. An average of four scholarships are awarded each year ranging from $2,000–$4,000. Rita G. Patterson Nursing Scholarship Donald and Rita Patterson established this scholarship in 2003 to assist full-time junior or senior students preparing for ministry in the nursing field. Recipients must demonstrate significant financial need and have a cumulative grade average of 3.0 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Two to three scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,500–$2,000. Alvin and June Perry Scholarship This endowed scholarship was established by Alvin and June Perry in 1997 to assist full-time students with significant financial need. Student must have completed at least one year at Cedarville University and must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Two to four scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$1,800. Personnel and Process Solutions, Inc. Management Scholarship* John and Jean LeBlanc established this scholarship in 2000 to assist students majoring in Business Management. Recipients must have completed at least one year of study at Cedarville University and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. The business faculty selects the recipient. One scholarship of $2,000 is awarded per year. Ralph and Floyd Pfleger Memorial Scholarship Mary Jo (Pleger) Martin established this scholarship in 1999 in memory of her father, Ralph Pfleger and her grandfather, Floyd Pfleger. The recipient must be a member of the Cedarville University baseball team and demonstrate financial need. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid and baseball coach select the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500–$900. James R. Phipps Communication Award* This scholarships, established by the communication arts faculty in 1999 to honor communication arts chair James R. Phipps ’68, assists an outstanding full-time junior or senior media and applied communications major who exemplifies the values of the department, including community involvement and Christian ministry. Recipients of this award are selected by department faculty; no application is necessary. One scholarship is awarded per year. Recipient not eligible to receive scholarship in successive academic years. Pleasant View Baptist Church Scholarship This scholarship was established by Karl and Vivian Lichtensteiger in 1982 to financially assist students. Preference is given to members of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Wren, Ohio. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$4,000. Mr. and Mrs. Rolan David Polsdorfer Music Award* In 2002, Catherine Polsdorfer established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Rolan. The scholarship assists a full-time junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music with piano as the principal instrument. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. Recipients of this award are selected by the music and worship departmental faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500–$1,000. Rolan David Polsdorfer Electrical Engineering Award* Established in 2003 by Mrs. Catherine Polsdorfer in loving memory of her husband, Rolan David Polsdorfer, this scholarship assists full-time sophomore and junior electrical engineering majors with a 3.3 GPA or higher. The engineering and computer science department faculty select the recipients. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $500– $1,000. Dan Poole Broadcasting Award Established by Daniel (’80) and Carole Poole in 2000, this annual scholarship is given to a full-time student who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and is actively involved with the University student radio station. The broadcasting program faculty select the annual recipients. One scholarship is awarded per year. President’s International Scholarship Established by Cedarville University in 2007 to recruit and retain qualified international students who have financial need. Recipients must be eligible to hold an F-1 student visa and must not be a U.S. citizen. The scholarship may be offered to a prospective student based on acceptance to the University to facilitate the filing of the I-20 documents. Awards will be finalized when recipient obtains the F-1 student visa and enrolls at the University. The University President, VP of Enrollment Management and director of financial aid will select the recipients. Donna Purple Memorial Award in Education* This award was established in 2001 by the friends and family of Donna Purple to honor her memory and to assist students preparing for a career in education. The recipient must be a full-time junior or senior student pursuing a degree in education, preferably middle childhood education, with a minimum GPA of 3.3. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need and who are struggling with or who have overcome severe illness. Recipients of this award are selected by the education department faculty, in consultation with the director of financial aid. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded per year. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Marlin Rayburn Award* Ethel Jeremiah established this scholarship in 1994 in loving memory of Ethel’s late husband, Marlin Rayburn. Marlin taught homiletics at Cedarville for seventeen years. This scholarship assists students who have demonstrated excellence in homiletics and have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Recipients are selected by departmental faculty; no application is necessary. One scholarship is awarded per year. Derek Richardson Memorial Scholarship Fund Kendall and Susan Richardson established this scholarship in memorial to their son, Derek Richardson, who died tragically in an auto accident in 2005 while enrolled at the University as a sophomore. This scholarship assists sophomore students who are enrolled in the University ROTC program. Recipients must have the attitude, aptitude and character to succeed as an Air Force officer. Recipients selected should reflect the character of Cadet Derek Richardson, succeeding physically, academically, and be more concerned for the well being of others than themselves. Recipients must have a record of public/social service both within and outside the Air Force ROTC program. The Air Force ROTC detachment commander and the Cedarville ROTC liaison select the recipients. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$1,300.
