Stevens Memorial Scholarship Mrs. Suzanne Stevens ’68 established this scholarship in 2003 in loving memory of her husband and Cedarville faculty member, Dr. Daniel Stevens ’69. Recipients must be advancing sophomore or juniors pursuing a career in Christian Education. The recipients must be routinely faithful in exhibiting the Biblical triad of faith, hope, and love. Recipients are not required to demonstrate financial need or maintain a specific GPA; however, they may be considered. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The biblical and ministry studies department faculty selects the recipients. One scholarship of $300 is awarded each year. Sandra K. (Cookie) Stivison Education Award* The Sandra K. (Cookie) Stivison Education Award is an endowed honors day scholarship established by Dr. Richard and Diane Early to honor Diane’s mother, Sandra “Cookie” Stivison and to support undergraduate Education major with financial need. The recipient will be selected each year by the chair of the education department and the director of financial aid. GPA should be 3.3 or higher (on 4.0 scale). Stuck Memorial Endowed Grant This scholarship was established in memory of Jim Stuck. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Taylor Scholarship Award* Established in 1985 to honor Ruel B. and M. Ethel Taylor by their children and grandchildren, this scholarship assists a full-time nursing student who has completed their junior year and is in the top ten percent of the nursing class. The recipient must have financial need, is committed to honoring and serving the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and is an excellent prospect for a successful career in nursing. Recipients are selected by nursing departmental faculty. One scholarship is awarded annually ranging from $1,000–$1,800. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. Dave Taylor Memorial Scholarship Established by the Class of 1964 in memory of their classmate, Dave Taylor, this scholarship assists children of full-time missionaries who serve on a foreign field . Recipients must be sophomore, junior or senior students. Preference is given to those who serve in Brazil. This scholarship makes one award equal to 5.5% of annual tuition. Students should complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The director of financial aid and members of the class of 1964 select the recipients. Philip L. and June W. Taylor Scholarship Endowment Established by bequest through the estate of Philip and June Taylor, this scholarship assists students who are preparing for service in missions or business. Recipients must have completed at least one academic year at Cedarville. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Candidates must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Class of 2007: Jonathan Taylor (J.T.) Honorary Scholarship The Class of 2007 established this endowed fund in honor of their classmate Jonathan Taylor (J.T.), a leader among students in service and academics. The scholarship assists senior students who reflect J.T.’s distinctive character — one who is marked by a quality of excellence and spiritual maturity in all of their endeavors at the University. Recipients must serve in leadership roles within the student body and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to students who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The director of financial aid and members of the Student Life Division select the annual recipients. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000– $1,800. Theta Rho Epsilon Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2004 by two Cedarville alumni who were members of Theta Rho Epsilon. Recipients must be members of Theta Rho Epsilon who exhibit effective leadership within the organization and who have a passion for following Christ. The associate dean for student leadership development and the director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship of approximately $1,000 is awarded annually. Cal Thomas Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established in 1998 to recognize Cal Thomas for his conservative influence and impact on the national media and to encourage students to enter careers that will enable them to influence the media for Christ. The award is given to full- time students with at least one year of completed study at Cedarville. To be eligible, students must complete the application available in financial aid office and have a faculty recommendation. Students should also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid, media and applied communications department chair, and another faculty or staff designated by the President selects the recipients. Approximately eight scholarships of $2,500 are awarded each year. Edward J. and Melvina Thompson Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2002 by Melvina Thompson in memory of her late husband, Edward, The scholarship assists full-time sophomore, junior, or senior students with financial need and a minimum GPA of 3.0. The recipient must have completed one year at Cedarville. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$1,400. Theodore R. and Helen Thoren Engineering Scholarship Established by the estate of Theodore R. and Helen Thoren in 2009, this endowed scholarship assists students with financial need who are pursuing degrees under the department of engineering and computer science. The director of financial aid selects the recipients. Applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Typically, one scholarship ranging from $1,500 to $2,000 is awarded annually. Olen Tilma Small Business Scholarship* Karel Tilma established this scholarship in 2005 in loving memory of Olen Tilma. The scholarship is to assist a student pursuing a degree in any academic major under the department of business administration and has a 3.3 GPA or higher. Recipients are selected by the department of business administration faculty. One scholarship is awarded per year ranging from $1,000– $1,200. Tindall Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1988 by the estate of Dr. Ralph Tindall ’35 to honor Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Tindall. This scholarship is awarded to students with extreme and urgent financial need. Preference is given to the child of a full-time missionary. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid selects the recipient. Approximately three scholarships are awarded per year. Marvin and Janet Troyer Athletic Scholarship Drs. Tim and Wendy Troyer established this scholarship in 1999 in honor of his parents, Marvin ’61 and Janet Troyer. The scholarship is awarded full-time students who are members of the women’s volleyball and/or women’s basketball team and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students pursuing a career in nursing, medicine or Christian ministry. Recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.5 on the 4.0 scale. Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if interested in this scholarship. The director of financial aid, athletic director, and women’s volleyball and basketball coaches select the recipients. Three to six scholarships are awarded per year approximately ranging from $2,000–$8,000. Dr. Donald Tyler Scholarship Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, Indiana, established this scholarship in 2000 to honor their former pastor, Dr. Donald Tyler, who passed away in 2002. Reverend Tyler also served as a University trustee. The scholarship will assist students enrolled in a bible program and preparing for ministry in the pastorate. The recipients must exhibit strong leadership and soul-winning abilities and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The chair of the biblical and ministry studies department selects the recipients. One to two scholarships are awarded per year ranging from $1,000–$2,000. Francis Varey Banks Nursing* This endowed scholarship was established in 2009 by Herbert and Judith Shrubsole to recognized the academic achievements of students pursuing a master of science of nursing degree with a global health ministry concentration. Recipients must be pursuing a master of science of nursing degree with a global health ministry concentration, have at least one year of study remaining in their academic program, and have a cumulative grade average of 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to students who are not citizens of the United States and who hold an F-1 student visa. The department of nursing faculty will select the recipients.
