Successful completion of a baccalaureate program at an accredited university prior to enrollment at Cedarville Readmission Cedarville students who miss the course registration deadline or sit out for one semester or more must apply for readmission. Students wanting to re-enroll should submit an application for readmission at least one month before the start of the semester. Applicants with the best prospect for readmission possess the following: 1. Continued evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ 2. A consistent Christian lifestyle as confirmed by the church leader (note: Only required if the student has left Cedarville for more than one term) 3. Satisfactory academic progress in your program of study 4. Satisfactory student life record A student who has been readmitted after one year away from Cedarville University must complete the graduation requirements as outlined in the catalog in use at the time of reenrollment. Nondegree Admission Students who intend to take a course at the University for transfer to another university or others who plan to take a course for personal enrichment/audit, should complete the undergraduate nondegree application process. Applicants with the best prospect for nondegree admission possess the following: 1. Evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ 2. A consistent Christian lifestyle as confirmed by the church leader 3. Satisfactory academic progress at most recent academic institution Early College/Dual Enrollment Admission Cedarville’s dual enrollment program is open to highly qualified juniors and seniors in high school who present a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ and evidence a consistent Christian lifestyle. The admissions committee will consider the following academic credentials and character references in its competitive selection process: 1. Unweighted high school GPA (minimum 3.50 GPA) 2. Rigorous high school curriculum (preference given to those who have successfully completed advanced college- preparatory courses) 3. Standardized test scores (ACT, SAT, PLAN, or PSAT) in the top 25th percentile) 4. Acceptable church leader recommendation For more information concerning dual enrollment, see “Special Academic Programs” on page 22. Admissions Policies High School Preparation Although the University does not prescribe actual high school course requirements, it recommends that students follow a college-preparatory curriculum that includes the following: • 4 units of English (grammar, composition, and literature) • 3–4 units of mathematics (algebra I and II, geometry, and trigonometry) • 3 units of natural science (physical science, biology, and chemistry) • 3 units of social studies (history and government) • 2–3 units of a single foreign language Students planning to study pharmacy, engineering, science, mathematics, or nursing should take as many mathematics and science courses as possible in their secondary school curricula. It is common for applicants to present transcripts with advanced placement and honors-level courses. Applicants are encouraged to challenge themselves intellectually throughout high school. GPA Policy Any high school cumulative grade point average indicated as “weighted” is recalculated using the high school’s grading scale. All cumulative GPAs reported in numeric averages are converted to letter grades using the school’s grading scale. Grade point averages are recalculated based on an unweighted 4.0 scale. All grades earned for high school credit are considered. Unweighted high school cumulative grade point averages are considered, along with SAT and ACT scores, for evaluation of admission to the University as well as in the awarding of academic scholarships and need-based grants. The cumulative GPA at the time of acceptance is used for awarding academic scholarships and need-based grants. Standardized Test Policy Cedarville University always considers your highest ACT composite score or SAT combined score (critical reading and math) from a single test date. We do not recombine or “superscore” SAT or ACT scores from multiple test dates. Cedarville’s SAT code is 1151 and our ACT code is 3245. Accepted students may increase the amount of their financial aid awards with improved test scores if received by February 15. Cedarville scholar applicants must submit test scores by January 15. Additionally, there are GPA requirements for all awards. Either SAT or TOEFL scores are required of all international applicants. Only SAT scores are used to award scholarships. Non-native English speakers must take TOEFL. Cedarville does accept test scores submitted from the Advanced Placement program, the International Baccalaureate program, and the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). For further information on these programs and Cedarville’s transfer credit policies, contact the office of the registrar. Reservation Deposit A $250 reservation deposit must be submitted by new and readmitted students to indicate their intention to enroll. This money is credited to the student’s account and used to cover tuition expenses. A student must submit a reservation deposit to register for courses. The reservation deposit is fully refundable if the request for refund is received before the reservation deposit deadline. All refund requests must be made in writing by the student. No refunds are available after the deposit deadline. Reservation deposit deadlines are as follows: Term Deadline Fall Semester May 1 Spring Semester Nov. 1 Summer Session I Apr. 15 Summer Session II May 15 Summer Session III May 15 Summer Session IV May 15 Summer Session V May 15 Students admitted after the reservation deposit deadlines must submit their reservation deposits within two weeks of notification of admission. New Student Orientation All new degree-seeking students are required to attend the orientation program for their term of enrollment (fall or spring).
