Mr, J. L. Reese, the well known druggist, and wife of South Charles ton, ate what they supposed to be mushrooms for breakfast, Tuesday morning, but which proved to be the deadly toadstools. Mr. Reese was taken violently ill at the St, James Monday morning Horace Phillips, 30 years of age, committed suicide at Oregonirt, by stepping in front of a train. He wasalmost instantly killed. Mr. Phillips came there two years ago, and worked with thc Columbia Bridge Company, o f Dayton, Ohio, who was putting up a bridge there, and at the time boarded with Mr. John Breen, who was Supervisor o f thc Little Miami Railroad for several years. It seems he took a decided fancy to Miss Maggie Breen, Mr. Breen’sdaughter, who did not return his affections. This made him de spondent and he took his life. He made a remark that morning just before going down to the railroad that he was tired of this life. His parents live inDayton* Ohio.
