This was fuliy . illustl'atgd on Saturday, September 28, when'the members of the. church and congregation took possession of the parsonage, the sisters bring ing fruit, pickles, preserves, and many other good things which a preacher enjoys. The men also allowed their appreciation by leav ing the urgent call of the fields an.d office and coming quite a distance to welcome their pastor and his wife homo ngafti. Nor was this all. When every one was seated and a very select ’program of ' music, speeches, poetry and many other enjoyable things came to a close .Rev, D. M, Conn, on behalf of tho church, presented Rbv, and Mrs. Speer with a purse containing in gold the neat sum , of $ 102 , thus demonstrating the delightful as sociations existing between this bright young pastor and the gener ous hearted people to whom-.he ministers. The writer having had tho privilege of ministering to this faithful church* io the absepee of the pasto r during his vacation', and Again .on last Friday, Saturday and Sabbath at' communion service, when we had a most blessed and spiritual comntjmion, upward of 200 partaking of the elements, deems i t proper to send tins'no te of encouragement to sister churches in the hope tha t they may do like wise. For in these days of unrest Ami dissatisfaction between somany churches and pastors, i t really does one good to find a church and pas tor where the ties of grace are so ‘strong th a t even outsiders speak of it.
