Each signer to th e petition must have the qualifications of a regular elector. - The petition must- -he signed by a number of qualified electors, equal in number to 36 per cent of tho votes cast a t the last regular election. No. valid petition can he signed before September 1 The petition may bo filed with the common pleas judge of the county, or, with tho commissioners ot the county. The judge, ot commission ers, aro required to order the elec tion. m not less than twenty noi more.than th irty days from filing of tho petition. If they refuse to act, as provided by law, an action in mandamus may be brought to compel them to take action on the petition. The election is held under the Australian ballot law. The bal lots are prepared by tho county board of deputy supervisors of elec tion. I t is the duty of tho judge, or commissioners, to call their atten tion to this, as soon ns the date of election is determined. The names of tho members of the board of su pervisors of election can he secured from tho Anti-Saloon League office, or from the secretary of state's re port. Tho proclamation announcing the the election must he posted or pub lished a t least tea days before the election takes place. Tho election will be conducted in all respects ns provided by law for tho election of county offiicers, so far as the law fs applicable, Tho law requires the result of the election to be entered upon the records of the proceedings of tho commissioners and with the Clerk of the Common Fleas Court, No petitioner’ can withdraw his name from tho pctltionafter J t - i a filed* or add hla name after it 10 filed* When f.he petitions have been se cured and placed m the hands of the executive committee, or chair man, they should j?be carefully bound and numbered. Mr. Barber lias lived to be the oldest of any of the family from Ills grand father down. Of Ills father's fam ily he and a sister, Mrs. James Townsley, are the only surviving members. Mr. Barber has been a resident, of this place ahont sixty- ilvo years, fifty-four of which ho has spent in his present residence on Xenia avenue.
