A new scheme to purchase votes was adopted Tuesday when the Andrew-Iiidgway gang purchased votes for Judas Wright for schoolboard by placing a quarter in a ba nana; to hand the voter and thus avoid detection. It was necessary for the gang to elect three members to get control of the schppls but seeing the fight to hot dropped two on the slate and' devoted their money and en ergy to Wright alone. This was done to keep him in the lead on the count for the county organisation re fused to recognise his recom mendations for judges in this precinct* Again it waskndwn that . the Minnie Hamilton story would be injurious and this had to be overcome. The quarters paid were for plum pers and the count revealed about thirty, just enough to keep in the lead. The gang was' certain when the polls closed that Wright would be from. 50 to 100 in the lead. The gang member will be the only rep resentative the drugstore has in the board. 8 When the organisation turned down Wright's rec ommendations 2. H. Andrew, T. B, Andrew, C. M. Ridgway and the gang committeeman himself went to Xenia to ap peal for recognition but their words fell on deaf.ears. The Xenia people have cut loose from the drugstore crowd. Much of the opposition to the county organization has been due to the work of the Andrew-Iiidgway crowd. It is said that the Xenia people were continually being asked to interfere with the courts in liquor cases and stand for graft money being demanded from certain persons who held good appointive posi tions. An hour, it seemed, the two moose had battled, neither appear ing to gain a point of advantage. Their sides showed red gashes from the savage'ripping of horn points. Their eyes W'ero reddened, and there was crimson in the flecks of froth that flew from their nostrils. The bog was churned into a black slough of muck beneath them. The first streaks of dawn were showing when—was it fate, luck or the bet ter. strategy of the.newcomer?— the advantage of position was taken from Biihorn’s stag, . Now tlfe1newcomer could stand off a locomotive, He could even , recover a measure of his wind, while his opponent must continue to weaken. And the effect soon: told, Suddenly he seemed to gather himself together and bring nil his great force of bone and muscle into one grand, herculean effort, and Biihorn’s buii slipped backward, His adversary-was actually forcing bog and nil back; with him, the spongy mass soughing up behind his helpless 'haunches. This was a dangerous turn in the, fray, He realized it and struggled to gain a stay somewhere, anywhere; hut there was nothing to hold to. Back,, back, -he settled on bis haunches vntil he was driven squarely over on his broad side, hopelessly out of action, terribly at the mercy of hia foe, who horned him brutally .again and again until sheer .lack of breath forced him to draw back for an. instant Up from, the reddened slough the vanquished beast stasrgered, a fearful spectacle.
