These tracts aro neh prairies land and are situated m tho famous Big Springs ranch which lias recently been opened up for investors and homeseokero. These gentlemen were highly pleased with their pur chases and report, that this land is fast being occupied by northern people, Tho climate is all that could be desired, there is plenty of fine drinking water, the best of schools, society and churches. A railroad iB being built through the lands of the Soash Land Co., which assures rapid development and advancing prices. The Soash Land Co. owns and con trols 700,000 acres and is building town of Soash which although only 5 months old has a fine hotel, which accommodates 2.'50guests and a Mod em Bank Buildiug, four stores, a sehoolbouse, lumber yard, post office, wide streets, park, electric light plant, and an unlimited supply of water which has been tested by the government and found 98 per cent pure. With these conditions Soash is bound to be a thriving city. Smith and Clemans are prepar ed to take homeseekers to Soash the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the low rate of $87.50 rdund trip including Pullman sleep ers and automobile transportation between Big Springs and Soash. The automobile ride of 60 to 75 miles across the plains cf Scm'hwest Texas is alone worth the entire ex pense of the trip. Next excursion, Tuesday, March 1st. The two weeks of special meetings that has been in progress with the different congregation* in town have been well attended, despite tho ex treme cold weather. Tho meetings close Friday evening with commun ion services in each congregation, Sabbath. Tho Aekely House in South Char leston, one of the oldest hotels in this part of the state burned early Sabbath morning. Fire wuis discov ered in tho attic. As tho town has a poor fire department there was uo chance to save the building. Most of the contents were saved. Registrar Fred C. Caloy, of the automobile division of tho Depart ment ot State, reported that tho to tal collected for January was $14,325. This came chiefly irora 7,711 owners •109manufacturers and 1,200 chauf feurs. The automobile tags ate not being applied for as readily as they should be.
