Both Johnson and Mrs. Profit were said to have been In Clifton and Left there about five o'clock and drove over dhe Jamison road to ; the Columbus, pike.' Profit claims that h it w ife was riding with Johnson and hw horse and buggy was, being led behind. Upon *6©iog the couple Profit, who was armed, de­ manded o f Johnson that he remain away from his Wife. Trouble ensued in "Which Profit was shot. Profit walked to W& father-in-law's Alex. Hall's,- and from there was brot to town and then taken to Xenia but he could not get into the hospital. In Xenia he was placed in the city ja il and Ms. wounds dressed b y Dr. De Haven. He maintained that he had, Shot himself in the fracuS but the Au- thorities scouted the idea. The wound Was ju s t below the heart ana,-the bul- ’ let pierced the body leaving between the .third and fourth rib*. Sheriff Funderburg'took tip the case and Monday placed, Johnson under ^ arrest. He held that he had no con- " neetion with the affair and was after­ wards released,when Profit 'claimed he had shot himself. The officers say - that it. was impossible fo r Profit to shot himself where “he Was injured without burning his clothing. It was also suspected that Mrs. Profit fired ’ the shot and that the husband who wanted her t o return to Ms home was taking the blame. Johnson is now be­ ing held fo r shooting Profit has changed Ms story and says that he did not shoot hijfesClf but that John . While waiting in the garage fo r the attendant to bring his car down the elevator from another floor a man in plain clothe* stepped ■up from the rear and placed Ms arms around Warren but at the same time feeling his hip pockets. -Thinking that he was the victim of a holdup, Warren put on a brays face but the man flashed a gun and de­ manded that he “put ’em up” . After trying to argqe the question as to the joke, which, yet had not become a serious matter, the'cashier adviBed him to "put 'em up” which was done. This time the man searched *a coat- that was on Warren’s arrffto see that no weapons were about. The cop demanded to know what he, Warren, was doing there and was in­ formed that a car was being brought down-the elevator for Mm. He de­ manded tojknow what kind o f a car and Warren replied a Ford coupe. The officer intimated that he might be driving a Hudson but.Warren insisted not and in a few seconds the Ford eojipe was brought down. ■ The officer seeing the situation and that Warren had a check fo r the car let Mm go with an- apology .that he urns seeking a man o f bis description that had stolen a Hudson and that the man was armed. Over sixty dele-j gates were present from Columbus, ' Springfield, Xenia and other nearby towns. The program, given was much appreciated by all present. In the morning after the praise service led1, by Mr. Boger.Collins, Dr, H. A. Kel­ sey gave a very Interesting Bible Study, This was followed by three minute reports from each o f the So-: cities represented. The business hour was next on the program. Commit­ tees were appointed and the Treas­ urers report made. The Society closed the year with a good balance in the Treasury. ’ Mr. Hannum o f Columbus led the Praise Service to the afternoon af­ ter Which three talks were given, one by Miss Kyle, o f Springfield, on the work o f the Prayer meeting commit­ tee, another by Miss- Findley o f Xenia on the .Social opportunity o f. the Y. C.-U. and1another by Miss Hart- sock o f Sugar Creek, on the Value o f the Mission Study Class. These dis­ cussions were followed by an address by Dr, A .'G - Hastings of Reynolds- mrg and also aid address, by Prof. Allen o f Cedarville College, These ad­ dresses were .Well received. The busi­ ness hour was next on the program. The .following officers were elected for the next year. President,.Mr, Wil- ard 'Kyle, Cedarville. Secretary, Miss Anna Turnbull,’ Treasurer, Miss Kyle o f Springfield, A teh cent assessment was voted for-the nextyear. „ In the evening Miss Frances Brngh led the Praise Service, after which Miss Helen Oglesbee sang a beautiful solo. The address o f -the evening'was given by Dr. Kelsey. It was a most inspir­ ing address on the subject “I will make You Fishers o f Men.” The -success o f the meeting was largely due to the efforts o f the Presi­ dent, Mr. Wm. Anderson,, who kept the meeting well to hand so that the program moved off on time all day, The delegates returned home after the evening session, feeling"'the day fiad been,well spent. Dispatches say that Henry Ford is considering the purchase o f the gov­ ernment nitrate plant at Muscle Shoals, Ala,, that so fo r has cost tee government a hundred million and la yet incomplete.
