The meeting was enlivened by music by the CedarvilleXema band. The first speaker was Sen, Chas, Brand o f Urbana, candidate for Con gress in this district. The speaker gave a plain presentation o f facts as to how the Wilson administration brought about a deflation o f prices on farm products Jo enable 'the city folks to have cheaper foods. First the Federal Reserve Board withdrew the aid o f the War Finance corpor ation in financing foreign credits so that foreign countries could buy our meats, grain, wool, cotton, etc. Next the Feredal Reserve Board caused the banks to call in farmer's notes and limited them credit. This was followed by an influx o f wool, hides, butter corn and meats from Australia and the South American countries; The market was overloaded and prices went down. Corn from $1.50 to 30 cents and land, dropping in like man ner. The f i r s t l i n g the Harding ad ministration did. was to pass an emer gency tariff to stop outside shipments o f farm, products to this country. In a short space o f time cbm went up from 30 cents to ;6Q cents and other farm products likewise. President Wilson had once • vetoed the same emergency bill. The Senator reviewed the work o f the Harding administra tion and praised what had-been ac complished in the state since the Re publicans took charge. He urged the support o f the straight Republican ticket without a aerate'#. ’ J. Kenneth Williamson, candidate for prosecuting attorney, gave a brief talk touching on affairs from a Repub iican standpoint. f Hon. G. C. Crabbe, candidate for at torney general, was' a very interest ing speaker. He explained the emer- gney act o f _th Davis administration. How a deficit o f $2,009,000 had been left the Republicans and how by the reorganization-act many boards and commissions had been abolished and all at a great saving so that the extra seven million for the soldier's bonus was paid without cost to. the taxpay- ery in having to issue more bonds. He compared the emergency act o f the Republican legislature to the emergen cy act o f the Cox legislature when the saloons in Dayton were voted a refund on their licenses because they were closed during the Dayton flood. Mr. Crabbe gave glowing account o f how important it Was to send Dr. Fess to the Senate and how the League o f Nations was a part o f the campaign. Ohio does not elect a senator two-* years from now when the Democrats say the League will he an issue again. He also showed how the national, amendment will be nullified i f the light wine and beer amendment carries and what dangers are ahead in this state. He urged that everyone not only vote for the ticket but to see that the full vote is recorded next Tuesday that Ohio may be saved fo r good govern ment. S. C, Wright presided at the meeting. __ DEFIANCE WON THE GAME ! * ! w * w j 6 h « iir ftt.a a f.ir iiM rf The Defiance-Cedarville game o f football Saturday drew a large crowd to College campus.
