J do not ask this question as a reflection on the present law or that a laborer sheuld not help pay hi* share of the cost of government. From what I hear school teachers pay no income tax on their salaries, nor do public officials. Why should not all qlasess pay income tax alike? The laboring man should con sider himself fortunate in having a ;wage large enough for such a tax but the salaried teachers and officials should also pay. His best known lecture .is “ Getting By Your Hoodoo,” ' WILL IMPROVE COLUMBUS PIKE THIS SUMMER The State Highway Department has granted the Madison county com missioners $60,000 of the Federal aid money for roads to improve "the six miles of the pike from, the Clark county line East to London. The Cost to the county will be $60,000 and it will be a hard surface road. The Greene county' commissioners have been given $ 10,000 aid for the Columbus pike improvement from Clayton McMillan’s farm to Block- sons bridge. Clark county.expects to improve from there to the Madison county line we are informed. This will complete the Columbus pike fromWesf Jefferson to Xenia. FORD TAKES,i OPTIONS ’ . ON MANY FARMS South Charleston has hopes of quite a boom if reports arc true that Henry Ford will erect car shops or soma kind of a factory on land north of the vil lage, Mr. Charles Gilbert of South Charleston, was in town Wednesday and when asked for his view stated that he did not think Ford contem plated any plant but was taking ops tions fio many farms between South Charleston ‘and Springfield for the purpose of straightning the D. T. & I. railroad that has quite a bend in it. Whole farms are being optioned at prices from $166 to $800 an acre. The heavy freight trains are unable to make the sharp curves nt present. A contest in which articles necessary to a bride were guessed from pictures, was «n interesting af fair o f the evening. Later in the even ing Miss Porter was presented with novel, little books wade by guests. Miss Porter received many useful and beautiful gifts o f linen. The shower was arranged as a George Washing ton affair, Favors hearing both the bride’s and her fiajw*’* pictures, to gether with the Am*$ean and Cana-, dian flags and emblems were given the guests. A two-odtese supper was served. The ice cream was moulded in the shape of two-feves..
