The Mode Speaks in Accents of Fur By CHERIE NICHOLAS N OW Isn’t It Just like whimsical, fickle fashion to inaugurate a program of fur trimming and It springtime with summer Just about to begin? It’s exactly what this crea ture of moods and fancies has done—; Cuffed the newest, smartest suits with fur, edged the flowing sleeves o f sheerest evening frocks with fur, the latest light woolen street dresses are likewise bordered with fur and even the vivacious little, Jacqnettea which flourish In the modes of the ltour take on a dash of < dainty fur. There’s this about the stnart-looklng and novel touches of fdr which grace sor many of the new1 suits, they cer tainly have an up-to-date, tills sea son’s air about them which proclaims for the models they trim tile fact of their being o f last-minute origin. For tho most part it Is the sleeve which boasts o f a dtfsh of fur in the form Of cuffs and bandings arranged In ways unique. A characteristic feature of the new fur cuffs and bandings Is that they are located, for the most part, above the wrlstllhe. The fur on the sleeves of the suit to the left in the picture IS smartly positioned, just below the el bow, as you see. Tills suit is navy, which Is in perfect keeping with the color mood which fashion has taken on in favor o f blues o f every degree. Beige fox achieves an effective con trast. The scarf worn with Ah) suit Is also in tones o f beige enlivened wltii bi-colored Insets o f red and bright blue. Much of the charm o f the late spring and early summer suits Is due to the fascinatin'? lightweight woolens of which they are made. Homespun, sheer crepy and pebbly weaves, also diagonal effects and especially .the hew lacy openwork woolens in grays’ and beige and in lovely pastel mono- tones are important in the list of smart snitlngs which aro taking on accents of for in harmonious color blendings. The .vogue for white-Is reflected in suits of white flannel, white' jersey and white tweed, their cuffs of white fox giving them an air o f distinction Gray Woolen wifi: a rough pebbly fin ish fashions the youthful bolero suit il lustrated to the tight. Gray fox clev erly semi-borders the short sleeve. The skirt is fitted to slenderize through means of shapely -gores back and front. Styling, .color, material and the favored touch of fur combine to make thts model a worthy exponent of that which Is newest in spring salts, Tlie tipper little sketch presents a modish street dress o f sheer woolen. Blouse and capclet sleeves cut all in one as is this model is the “last word,” also the straight buttoning up the front and the coliartess neckline. The bordering o f self-colored fox lends a final note Of chic, 1 In the evening mode as well as dur ing the daytime hours, a touch of fur is ever present. The brief little jaCqnette pridefutty boasts of fur- bordered sleeves, after the manner of the now-so-fashionablq tled-al-the-bust wrap pictured in the little sketch be low.
