WILL CALL FOR AND DELIVER ¥ Phone 8 C h a r l e s G e r o t i Cedarville, Ohio The Gideons have always been staunch advocates of the dry cAuae and a t every opportunity they strike effective blows at the liquor traffic. Daily papers the first of the New Year reported that Wilford S. Alex ander, federal alcohol administrator, urged Congrees today to ban adver tising of liquor on ;the radio. In his annual report of the year ended December 15, Alexander also proposed that Congress forbid pub lication of liquor advertising, in Sun day editions of newspapers, of adver tisements portraying, children qr re ferring to alcoholic beverages as hav ing tonis, food or medicinal quali ties. Temperance advocates will say “Amen” to all of this. Judge Arthur H. James, Pensyl- vania’s newly-elected governor, is quoted as saying: "Do you think the liquor situation needs improvement? H you don’t, I do. I stand for dealing straight from the shoulder with the liquor question.” The Dry League Herald referring to this statement says: “It is a world of comfort to know that Pennsylvania is to have for our next four years, a Christian gentle man who is respected and admired by all who know him for what he really is.” Senator Morris Sheppard in his an nual address before the U. S_ Sen ate on the adoption of Prohibition January 16, said: Under national prohibition one could travel from the Atlantic to the Pac- iftce and from the Canadian to the Mexican border without seeing a bill or a neon light advertising somebody’s liquor establishment of ■ a particular brand of alcohlic drink. During the 13 years of national prohibition not one of the millions pf copies of magazines and spapers which came into the American home contained a liquor advertisement. Not once dur ing that 13 years was the voice of the radio announcer heard in the privacy of an American fireside proclaiming the alleged merit of some liquor dis pensary. If national prohibition had made no grestter contribution to the cause of temperance than to banish the advertising of liquorS; by that fact alone it made a monumental contri bution to the cause of national so briety, ANNUAL REPORT Of the Clerk of the Village of Cedarville, Greene County, Ohiio, for the Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 1838 Population, 1930 Cefiaus, 960 Cedarville, Ohio, February 10, 1939 I hereby certify the following report to be correct.
