They read tod use other books, but tne book is God’s W ord, and everything, else must be in accord with its teaching. - In ibla blessed Book they find the only revelation of God's saving grace. Other attributes of God may be-found in the - book o f nature. There we find that God Is powerful, orderly, w ise, etc., but nowhere in pattire -ia it written that- God can Saye a m an from his sin: We find that only in the Bible, God's written Word a s it reveals Jesus Christ the Saviour who is the Living .Word, I . The Eternal Glory of God’ s Kingdom (w . 10-13). The kingdom of God refers to His reign: over a ll things and beings, but with special reference to* those who are-w illingly subject’ to Him and eageiv to live for H is glory*,. Everything in/God’s creation Is to be lifted up in praise of that king dom . A ll H is t,works - shall. praise H im . They reveal Him in part, but even that lim ited revelation is glori ous. The man who cannot see God in nature ls'indeed a dull clod. The heavens declare H is glory and the earth shows forth His handiwork (P s. 1 9 :1 ). ' - Greater and more precious •in God’s sight issth ei' praise of His saints. Dumb :adorattb»;ds accept able only from-w dumb-oreation. We, H is saints, are to .sp e a k H ii praise, to “ blessl* H im (v . 10). W e arc- to spread abroad among?, a ll men;- (v. 12) the news o f God’s greatness.and goodness. . “ H is kingdom; is am -everlasting kingdom,” and thus it at once, takes its p lacrasiso superior to what men call kingdom s-to hardljr to be men- ttoned in thW same breath. There is no lim it,to God’s-kingdom either in its extent.or its duration. How ^stupid then that1 sem e; yes many, foolish;,men and women set themselves up-to.(rebellion against God. -T h aL is-th e height of all folly and leads only to disaster.- How wise are those who yield their lives to H is control that their little span of life .may . find rich meaning in the One who endures forever. I I. The-:-Abundant - Provision - o f God’s Mercy (w . 14-16). We are a ll completely dependent on the mercies of God fo r everything that We need for life -p h y sica l, jmen- tal.and ,sp iritual. Consider the food for the body.; God op en sH is bountiful hand and: every, living* creature is provided with the food necessary for its sus tenance. How this is accomplished is a mystery and a marvel to. us, but God is able to do it. Centuries ago men were fearful, that the earth could not produce enough foOd to keep the increasing population of mankind alive, but God sees to that even;when He has to do it in spite of man’s waste and de struction. „ However, life is not- Just material. There must be a satisfying of man’s spiritual nature. He needs someone to save him from his own sinful weakness, to? deliver him from his sorrow and affliction. Who can do <th is:bu t God?- And He does it (See v . 14). How does He do' It? Through; the. ministry o f H is Holy Word. There in man finds salvation and satisfac tion. The Bible is the light that shines upon his way. It is his com fort inaorrow and his strength in temptation; Itexh o rts and encour ages, convicts apd cures. How endless and how overflowing is .the mercy o f our God. Let us "w a it upon” H im , knowing that He Is not only mindful of our need, but eager to do for us more than we can ask. or think. m . The Saviag Power of God’s Grace (w . 17-19). The Lord, who “ Is nigh unto all them- that call .upon him” (v . 16), Is able to save because He is ' ’right* eous in all tils'w ay s add holy in all his works” (v . 17). Only a just and holy God can deal with sin, and y a tc n ly .a merciful.God would pro vide ?redemption; but in our God mercy and truth meet (P s. 118M ; Pa. 103). He is both “just and the justifier o f him that believeth in Jesus” (R em . 3:26). - He It is who is near to a ll that “ ca ll upon him in truth” (v . 16), and-surely it Is such a calling on the Lord which is in mind in Romans 10:13, where we read that “ whoso ever shall call upon tha nama bZ the Lord shall.bttsaVech" Notice that God’s nearness, His salvation, and H is fulfillment of the desires o f men are for those who call on H im and who “ fear H im ” (V , 19). This is not a matter of* m agical use of a name, or an out ward profession of faith. It must come from tha heart, and when it does, Gtid responds, So we Add God’s word to be the source of our instruction concerning thoserthing*which can make us wise unto salvation (II’ Tim. 3:16), It fs the Book of our faith!
