The President gave his opinion Members o f Congress should receive from fif-J teen to twenty-five thousand dollars a year as compensation for their s e r -! vices. However, there are many in CJongress—including your humble ser- j vant—who will oppose any attempt to raise congressional salaries so long as the compensation o f other workers is frozen through war time controls, although believing Members are en titled to be reimbersed for the actual expenditures they make in behalf of the government while transacting public business.
