Reuber, Bath twp., returned World War II- veteran as,deputy sheriff with- the, title of county ,road patrolman. ’ He succeeds Earl C. Confer, killed in line of duty in a Xenia shooting Jan. 29. The new deputy was a special deputy under Sheriff Spahr be­ fore entering the navy. . HOG PRICE BASE 6PPOSED BY CIO Reports out of Washington say the CIO is using pressure on • the New Dealers to take the bottom from un­ der the hog price. The OPA is look­ ing with favor on the plan and reason that farmers who are holding back hogs would unload them at once ahd sell everything down to 125 pounds. The CIO has had ' some sort of a promise from.the administration ^and Was willing to take the 18 i-2c or the 19 l-2c an hour originally asked for. The recompence was to be lower pric­ ed food. ' Secretary of -Agricultural Clinton Anderson in speeches to farmers dur­ ing the WLW farm week last October promised farmers they would have guaranteed prices. Now he says he cannot make good the promises due to the world food situation. Labor gets the increase in wages.
