Mrs, Ross Wiseman o f this place and sister, Mrs. Archie Miller, Selma, were called to Ashland, Ky., this week by the death o f" their step-mother, Mrs. John Griffith. The pupils o f the High School un­ der the direction o f Mrs. Mildred Fos ter, will give a musical in the opera house, Friday evening, Mai 10th, The program will consist o f a short oper etta, solos,, choruses and dances. Rev. Ted Anderson and family stop, ped a little while Sabbath afternoon with Dr. John W. Bickett, pastor of the Clifton U. Presbyterian- Church and_Mrs!L. Bickett to ' discuss.with them’ the program o f the Spiritual Life Conference fo r young people at Hanover, Ind. The program is now complete^ and large posters will soon be sent out to the young people of the church. Easter Sunday ,Miss Jo Ann Lister, was confirmed and taken into the First English Lutheran Church in Xenia. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lister Were also taken into the church at that time. The Wesley Weds met at the home o f Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Richards Wed­ nesday evening with 18 members be­ ing present. A fter a covered dish supper V. President Mary Pickering conducted the business session. De­ votions were led by Esther Mao Rey­ nolds. The May meeting will be at -the- home o f Mr, and Mrs.. Herbert Pickering. FIRM DISSOLVED The well known firm o f Weikert and Gordon, auctioneers has been dis­ solved by mutual consent and each will have his own opportunity for calls. Mr. Weikert resides in Spring- field and will have his son with him. Mr. Gordon, is a local resident. MARGARET ANDERSON TO WED ,Lt. JOHN REINHARD IN JUNE Dr. and Mrs. Leo Anderson are an­ nouncing tho engagement and ap­ proaching marrihge o f their daughter, Margaret, to -Lt. John Reinhard, son o f Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Reinhard o f Cedarville. Miss Anderson is a graduate of Cedarville High School, attended Cedarville College and is now a sen. ior at Ohio State University. Lt. Reinhard graduated from Cedarville High School and Cedarville College, and attended Ohio State University prior to his enlistment in the Army. He has served for the past three and one-half years and just recently re­ turned from overseas where he was a member o f the corps o f engineers. Lt. Reinhard is now on terminal leave and is planning to attend Ohio State University this fall. The wedding will be a June event. ■nggi Mra^JErvin Kyle received an an­ nouncement o f the marriage of Miss Carol Titus and Mr. Donald. Hardy of London, England on February 4th. The bride is the only daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Murray Titus, mission­ aries in India from the Methodist Church, and have spent the past three years in the United States. Mrs. Hardy graduated from Marysville College,- Marysville, Term., in Decem­ ber. The groom is a government o f­ ficial over Mjorodabad 'Province in India, where the couple will reside. The Titus family have visited in the Kyle home a number o f times, Mrs. Titus being a neice of Mrs. Kyle. . The McKibben Class o f the United Presbyterian Church met at the din­ ing room o f the church last evening for the regular monthly meeting and covered dish supper. President Robert Cotter conducted the business meet­ ing that followed, after which games were enjoyed in charge of Lauris Straley. Mr. and Mrs. Emile Finney, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Parker and Mr. aind Mrs. Fred*Dean were the committee; in charge o f the affair. SECTION it— LICENSE REQUIR- ments—Application fo r such license shall be in writing to the Mayor' with definite statement o f the number o f taxicabs to be operated, together with the name, factory number state number and motor number, and the name o f the driver to be in charge of each taxicab fo r which tbe application for license is made. SECTION 4— DRIVER OF TAXI­ CAB—The chauffeur or driver of such vehicles engaged in the business o f carrying passengers fo r hire must be a citizen o f the State o f Ohio, be at least twenty-one (,21)years of age, and have issued to him a Chauffeur’s license by the Bureau o f Motor Vo hides of the State o f Ohio, SECTION 6—LICENSE FEE—The fee for each taxicab, with a seating capacity o f not to exceed six persons ahalT be” ten dollars, ($10.00); for a taxicab with seating capacity in ex­ cess o f Six, eighteen ($18.00). Each license shall be issued by the Mayor o f the Village by and with the approv­ al o f Council, only after it has been ascertained that the conditions o f this ordinance have been complied with, and the public convenience and neces-, aity require the licensing o f such tax­ icabs. Licenses shall be issued for the calendar year only, No license shall be transferable and no rebate shall be made for any unused portion o f a license, SECTION 6— INSPECTION FOR SAFETY—- All owners and operators of taxicabs Shall maintain their equip* ment in good mechanical condition at all times, shall not operate such vehicles without adequate brakes and lights, or any mechanical defect that would tend to affect the safe opera* tion o f such vehicle. The Mayor or Marshal shall have the right at all times to inspect licensed taxicabs for mechanical defects. SECTION 7—FOR THE PROTEC t io n o f th E P u b l ic a g a i n s t e x c e s s i v e f a r e s , a n d a l s o TAXICAB OPERATORS AGAINST MINIMUM FARES—It provides that tha taxicab faraa within tha eorpor* at* limits of tha Vftlkga of Cedaxvitti# cedarville herald , F riday A pril » , Ohio, shall ba within tha following limits, towit, Minimum fare fifteen cents, (15c) first passenger, plus five cents, (5c), for each additional pas­ senger served. Maximum fare twen­ ty-five cents,. (26c), per person car­ ried, plus fifty cents, (50c) fo r each trunk carried. SECTION 8 — TAXI PARKING -STAND—IT shall be unlawful for any taxicab to park or stand, except long enough to t^ke on or discharge pas­ sengers, except at-the parking stand which shall be designated by the Mayor or the Village Marshal. Such stand shall not be designated without first securing the written consent o f the abutting property owner. SECTION 9— INSURANCE RE- QUIRED — It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a taxi cab with­ in the Village o f Cedarville, Ohio, without first filing with the Mayor proof of the fact that such person is adequately insured or bonded, or hay­ ing a net worth sufficient to guaran­ tee to any person injured or damaged in person or property while being car­ ried as a passenger in such or any .person injured or damaged In person or property by the operation o f such taxicab, whether passenger o r not, if such injury or damage is caus­ ed by the negligence or intended act o f the operator or owner o f such taxi­ cab, in an amount o f not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), per per­ son, and ten thousand dollars, ($10,- 000.00), fo r one accident, and also one thousand dollars, ($1,000.00), fo r in­ jury to property, such proof shall ac­ company the application fo r a license and shall remain continuously on file during the life o f such license. SECTION 10—LICENSE REVOKE 'ED 'WHEN—Any taxicab license may be revoked at the discretion o f the Mayor, when the holder has been con­ victed or pleads guilty to a violation of this-or any other ordinance o f the Village, or any law o f the State o f Ohio. ‘ The Mayor may also revoke such license by and with the consent of Council when in the discretion o f the Mayor and approved, by Council when the public safety and conven­ ience o f the Village requires such rev­ ocation. SECTION 11— PENALTY— Who ever shall violate the provisions of this/ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be fined not to exceed the sum o f one hundred dollars, ($100.00), and costs. Each day’s violation shall constitute a sep­ arate offense. SECTION 12— All ordinances or resolutions, or parts o f same in con­ flict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. .
