Those that stay north daring the winter usually have a hard enough time of it even in a mild winter. But the recent cold snap, an they say there is more of it to come, has made it very bad for them. What can we do about it? Well, we can’t do any thing about the weather, but we can see that they have something to eat. ENGLAND PAYS HIGH PRICE FOR FOLLY Ergland is suffering from cold mere than from hunger according to all reports. In addition the nation is raying high for its own folly in eivctlng a socialist administration to govern her Winter ku. fall on that country form the government as long as bil lions are spent for materials and sup plies. Cong. Gerald Landis, R, Ind., has introduced a resolution in congress urging the U. S. to work fox* world- wide abolition of cnscriptin before considering a peace-time draft. Lan dis says: “Compulsory military ser vice has never prevented war in Europe or elsewhere.” With hogs above $25 a hundred, cattle about the same, wheat $2.25 in Chicago, we wonder how many farmers want to go back to AAA days as proposed by President Tru man that farm prices drop 90 per cent of parity? This means less than 12 cent hogs and $1.50 wheat and $1.10 corn. Dropping back to the old bunko game of CIO parity, one thing is cer tain, the days of $ 2,000 for used farm tractors will become only a memory.
