Higgins’ court ac tion to reclaim the seat o f Wright View village council from which he was ousted March 13 in an echo o f the dispute between vil lage officials and the sheriff's office that originated last Dec ember in charges o f a “ speed trap” being operated by the vil lage. Mayor Harry E. Hodge of Wright View said that the char ges on which council acted in ousting Higgins stemmed from the arrest by sheriff's deputies o f village Marshal JH. O. Guen ther and his deputy fo r exer cising police powers outside the jurisdiction o f the village. Higgins brought quo warranto proceedings in common pleas court last Wednesday against Ray Fannin and Mitch Adkins, present councilmen who were ap pointed after his ouster to fill his seat and another vacancy on the council. The plaintiff says othy and Rebecca entertained the Pennsylvania visitors and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Thunderburg of New Carlisle, the Misses Mary, Helen Junia, Frances and Ruth Creswell o f Springfield with a family dinner. he doesn’t know which appointee was named to his seat, so he asks that either or both be ousted. Mayor Hodge said that sher i f f ’s deputies set a “ trap” to capture the village officers in violation o f jurisdictional author ity. He said that Higgins and Deputy Sheriff J, R. Ramsey con cealed themselves and signaled to Sheriff’s Dupties Wesley Har ris and Robert Woods who then “ baited” the village marshal in to an attempt to arrest them. The mayor considered the coun cilman thus “ participated in an illegal, entrapment” and charges that afterward he “ illegally got in the marshal’s car, which is privately owned, and drove it to Ramsey’s home” while the mar shal, his deputy and four teen age companions were being brought to the county jail. 42 TO BE DEDICATED Dedication o f U S 42, which passes through Cedarville, to veterans of the 42nd (Rainbow) division will take place in Dela- .WilberforceIs Droppedby NorthCentral Officials o f Wilberforce uni versity notified that the school had been dropped Friday from the 'accredited list of *the North Central association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, were re ported giving serious. considera tion to several administrative plans which might lead to rein statement of the university.
