DRAKE County Agricultural Agent Swine Production and Market- ■ftr S ing Conference *'■ Swine Production and Market- ing Improvement will be the cen­ tral theme of a marketing con­ ference at the Netherlan Plaza Hotel in Cincinnati Oet. 23 to which county livestock committee officers and county agents have been invited to attend. The conference is sponsored by the State Extension Service and the Cincinnati Producers of Officers of the Greene County which J. R. ICimher is manager. Livestock Committee who are invited to attend are Russell Fudge, New Jasper Twp. chair­ man; Dclmar Bull, Xenia Twp. vice-chairman; and Earl Dune- vant, Miami Twp. Sec.-treas, FARM BUSINESS CLINICS Plans for holding a series of five^Farm Business Clinics for yoiyig farmers in Greene, Preble and Clermont counties were made last Thursday when extension specialist o f Ohio State Univer­ sity met in Xenia with county a- gents from these counties. Those attending were Geo. Eastwood and: D. B. Robinson supervisors; Lyle Barnes, Farm Management Specialist; Sam Huber, of the Agricultural Engi­ n e e r in g staff; E. P. Reed, Soils ;and Crops Specialist; and cdkmty ‘-.agents C. G, Bowen, o f Preble "County and W. W. Hamilton o f Clermont County. The series of five clinics in Greene County will be held Feb. 4, 11, 17, 24, and March 3. Sub­ jects which will be discussed will include; Selection of Major En­ terprises; Soils and Crops; Live­ stock; Labor, Power, and Equip­ ment; Lease Agreements, and Insurance. APPLE WEEK OCT. 23-31 Apple growers, who were hand­ ed one of the best sales lines ever concocted, “ An apple a day keeps the doctor away” , have decided tp join the procession of Weeks by designating October 23-31 as Apple Week, Since apples will be at their tree-ripened peak in that period. Local growers will have ready for cooking or for fresh fruit some fine McIntosh, Cortland, and Grimes Golden apples. ARTIFICIAL BREEDING SER­ VICE GROWS Membership in the Artificial Breeding Assoociation continues to grow with six new herds add­ ed during the past month. Milo Cooper o f Jamestown is county inseminator and last month re­ ceived 208 calls for service. Early in the war large quant­ ities o f butter, lard and other fats shipped to the South Pacific were lost due to rancidity.
