Ealph C. Haines, secretary, has announced that racing purses have been increased from $500 to $800' in all cases except one. In that instance, a free-for-all mixed pace and trot dangles $1,000 in. the faces o f its drivers as reward-' fo r winning; There will bt| racing every afternoon and evening dur- the four days, except Tuesday night, when the entire evening will be given over to entertain­ ment. A triple feature is scheduled for Tuesday evening, Sept. 6, consisting of a concert by a com­ bined mass county school band o f 500 pieces; a parade o f prize win­ ning livestock and farm machin­ ery; also a full amusement pro- . grpm^. The latter will be headed b y ' KLEIN’S RHYTHM REVUE, consisting of eight beautiful dancing girls presented in a gla­ morous musical settin of dazzling costumes and high quality acts. These girls have been trained by One o f the famous Rockettes of New York City, and will provide a good clean show of one hour and fifteen minutes. Other acts will appear on this same evening, as well as the other days and nights of the Fair, including the Mascvhino Troupe, Swedish aero- b its; the Gold Dust Twins comedy act; the Four Whirlwinds doing a skating act. Also The Egony Trio brought from Denmark do- inc a trampoline act and featured at state Fairs and circuses. There will also be rides for POTATOES H. C. Cresswell the kiddies including a pony track, merry-go-round, ferris w h e e l , aerial swings and plenty o f ball throwing games, cane rack, high striker and other games which make fun for the oldsters; A ll pens and stalls are being put into first-class condition for exhibition o f livestock and spaces are being alotted for grains, farm displays, granges, school ex­ hibits and in the art. and needle­ work departments. The Dayton and Montgomery county garden clubs are sponsoring again a mam­ moth flower show in, the agri- * culture building. The 4-H clubs and vocational ag. departments will ;be filled to overflowing. A special new feature w ili.be cash awards' fo r d lie best wedding - cake 'exhibit. If 'th e -fair board can induce a couple to marry during the fair on the grounds, the prize winning cake will be theirs. Pies, cakes and other pro­ visions will be amply displayed. While the fair opens regularly on Labor Day, the coliseum will he open on Sunday afternoon free as commercial exhibits are expected to be in place by that time. The balance o f the exhibits, however; will be barred to the public until Monday, Labor Day, when the fair opens officially. County Buys Power Mower In case you hadn’ t found out it, you have a new mowing ma­ chine. County Engineer Lemeke au­ thorized the purchase o f a high­ way mower; costing $1,607. The county commissioners okehed the. suggestion. It is to be used on the county road system to keep berms clean, and improve thgir appearance, similar to the methods followed by the state highway department.
