McCorkell, Clerk IMPORTANT NOTICE # New Restrictions on Gas House Heating Effective September 12, 1950 The Seventh Supplemental Emergency Order issued on the above date by ThePublicUtility Commissionof Ohiodrastically reduces the numberof addi tional gas space heating approvals which can be granted by the Company . Applications Must Be Filed for Gas House Heating Change in regulations affecting use of additional ga s for space heating authorized by The Public Utilities Commission in the in terest of the health, safety and welfare of the people o f Ohio. Home owners and tenants, builders, heat ing contractors and gas space heating appliance dealers should become familiar with the provisions o f the Emergency Gas Limitation Order, which became effective September 16, 1947, and Supplemental Emergency Orders and the reasons for their adoption (the last Supplemental Or der issued September 12, 1950}. Regu lations o f The Public Utilities Commission o f Ohio are not optional but mandatory. Under the Commission's latest rules, additional gas space heating approvals which can be made by the Company have been drastically curtailed. Only a very limited number o f applications can be approved until further notice. Appli cations for authorization to use gas for space heating purposes must be filed with the Company for future action. Temporary Gas Emergency Results From Shortage of Transfer fallen Fccilities There is plenty o f natural gas for future use. New discoveries o f gas supplies hove brought known reserve supplies to more than 160 trillion cubic feet. Exploration and new drilling are unearthing addi tional large reservoirs o f gas every year. The problem is transportation and under ground storage facilities. The huge re serve supplies o f natural gas are in Texas and the Southwest. The difficulty is in bringing the needed gas to this area and staring underground. Pipe line companies that deliver natural gas from the South west to our supplier have not been able to build transmission facilities fast enough to meetthe grecdly Increased demand for natural gas service. A M i l b i a l G as For Space Heating Far Hew Residences k; We are permitted to authorize the use o f additional gas for space heating purposes in newly constructed residences and an equal number o f conversions from other fuels under the provisions o f the Emer gency Orders issued by The Public Utili ties Commission. Conversions From Other Fuels to G as Under the provisions o f the Commission’s Emergency Orders, The Dayton Power and Light Company Is prohibited from granting approvals for the use o f addi tional gas fuel for space healing purposes which replaces other fuels or for any additional space heating In existing struc tures whether it is a gas furnace, gas boiler, gas floor furnace, gas conversion burner, gas fired unit heater, or any other space heating equipment using gas fuel in excess o f those granted in writing by the Company for newly constructed resi dences. How to Make Applications Applications for new or additional space heating with natural gas will be received in person, or by telephone in all The Dayton Power and Light Company offices during regular office hours. Application for heating new homes must be made by the owner or builder. 'Public Notice W ill Be Given of Any Change la Regulations When gas transmission and storage facili ties responsible for these restrictions have been improved to the point where The Public Utilities Commission authorizes a change in the regulations, ample public notice win be given by the Company. Applications already approved are good for a limited time only. If not used, at the end o f six months a new applica tion must be filed.
