FALL YELLOW JACKETS OVERVIEW Yellow Jacket athletic teams have been active during the fall season with the majority of competition happening on Cedarville’s campus in the early months of the semester – 33 in total. CROSS COUNTRY The highlight of the home events was the All-Ohio Cross Country Championships under the lights at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course. The Lady Jackets had the top four finishers in the 5K race, led by individual champion Alayna Ackley ’23, in winning their second All-Ohio team title. Led by Head Coach Jeff Bolender ’91, the team has been ranked as high as No. 6 nationally in the USTFCCCA Division II Cross Country Poll. The women are the defending G-MAC champions and placed 11th in the 2021 NCAA Championship. The men’s team, which has been ranked as high as 27th, placed fifth in the All-Ohio meet, with Evan Leist ’23 running to a sixth-place performance. SOCCER The Cedarville soccer teams were each ranked No. 2 in their respective preseason G-MAC coaches polls. The Lady Jackets, who have been the G-MAC runner-up in each of the last two seasons, are off to a 12-2-1 start and lead the league. The men are 8-6-1 in a tightly contested G-MAC race that is heavy on parity. VOLLEYBALL Head Coach Greg Smith has had as many as four freshmen in his lineup this fall, but his squad is an impressive 8-4 in the G-MAC and 10-12 overall. GOLF The men’s golf team set a 54-hole school record at the Findlay Fall Invitational with scores of 299-287-295-881. Sam Evans ’26 had a five-under par opening round, tied the school record, and his 54-hole total ties for No. 4 in school history. Earlier in the season, his brother, Will Evans ’23, tied the 18-hole Cedarville record with a five-under par 67 at the Malone Invitational. QUICK HITTERS: • The Athletics Department in association with the Advancement Division raised more than $150,000 during the annual Greater Than the Game giving day. • A generous gift from Wallace & Turner Insurance will provide a new scorer's table for the Stranahan Gymnasium.
