The first brochure for the new Department of Nursing — published in 1982 — articulated the dream for future nursing students. “The purpose of this nursing program in a Christian liberal arts college is to provide an opportunity to study nursing in a scholarly environment where man is viewed as created in the image of God, and where Christian faculty serve as a role model in meeting the spiritual needs of patients and families.” This dream was realized in 1985 when the first 30 students graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
