Cedarville Magazine, Season Year

WILLIAMS HALL Williams Hall, constructed in 1960, was named in honor of Dr. Arthur F. Williams, who served as the head of the Bible department from 1955–67 and Dean of Students from 1953–60. In 1968, Dr. Williams became the first person to be honored as an Honorary Alumnus of Cedarville College. Throughout its history, Williams Hall functioned as a residence hall for both men and women, with its use varying based on student enrollment. In 1981, it transitioned to a hub for campus offices. Initially home to the Student Services offices, it now houses several academic departments, including psychology, education, and English, literature, and modern languages. “ I had the privilege of living in Williams Hall during the 1967–68 school year, sharing a first-floor room with none other than Jim Jeremiah. Dr. Williams, the dorm’s namesake and a beloved Bible professor, was once a customer on my newspaper route.” General Loren Reno ’70, Senior Adviser to the President 37
