Cedarville Magazine, Summer 2024

EVERY GIFT MAKES AN IMPACT God is doing something amazing on Cedarville’s campus. As we move into the last phase of One Thousand Days Transformed, we still need partners to join us in achieving our mission. Would you consider joining with the other 21,000 donors by making a one-time gift of $189 — the average amount for gifts under $10,000 – to the campaign? Together, we can finish this campaign and continue to stand strong for the Word of God and the Testimony of Jesus Christ. cedarville.edu/givesummer24 FACULTY SUPPORT Faculty and staff support is the backbone of any university community. These dedicated individuals work together to create an environment of academic excellence, student success, and life transformation. Since the start of One Thousand Days Transformed: The Campaign for Cedarville, over 727 faculty and staff members have supported the campaign, many of whom give monthly. Melissa Brown is a professor within the School of Education and Social Work. Her journey with Cedarville reflects both her passion for teaching and her profound belief in the transformative power of a Cedarville education. Having gone to Cedarville herself, Melissa is passionate about making Christian education accessible to others. As a testament to her belief in Cedarville’s mission, Melissa actively supports the University through her talents and her generous giving to both student scholarships and Global Outreach trips. She believes that supporting scholarships is a meaningful way to invest in the next generation of leaders who will engage the world for Christ. Cedarville's influence on Professor Brown's life extends beyond the classroom. Grounded in biblical truth, her education has empowered her to navigate the complexities of her field with confidence and compassion. As both a former student and a dedicated faculty member, Melissa remains steadfast in her commitment to supporting the University's mission and empowering future generations to impact the world for Christ. YOUNG GENEROSITY When Cedarville University publicly launched its $125M One Thousand Days Transformed campaign in 2019, the University believed that every gift would be important — whether large or small. Throughout the ongoing campaign, Cedarville received gifts ranging from $10 to $10M, and all were happily accepted because they reflected the stewardship of the donor. But one 8-year-old Beavercreek, Ohio, girl took the “Every Gift Matters” philosophy to a whole new level when she approached University President Thomas White during Homecoming 2022. Renee Buskohl, daughter of Phil ’06 and Bekah (Williamson) Buskohl ’07, was attending the homecoming chapel when she heard Dr. White share about the One Thousand Days Transformed campaign and the need to continue raising money for the $40M Scharnberg Business and Communication Center. Renee begged her parents and aunt to allow her to contribute to this lofty project. She pulled out four quarters, walked toward Dr. White, and told him she wanted to contribute to the campaign. The size of the gift mattered because the size of the heart that was compelled to give reflected Christ. And, just like every other donor to Cedarville’s One Thousand Days Transformed campaign, Renee was sent a receipt for her gift. Because every gift matters. Listen to the full story: 35
