"On Friday, January 20th, the Coulter– Yille Congregation gave their newly-elected pastor and his lady a grand welcome. Invi– tations were extended to all the ministers and physicians of Coulterville and to a large number. of :frienas. Among those from a dis– stance were Rev. W. J. Smiley and wife, Mr. J. H. Fulton-and wife, Mrs. Mattie McMaster, of Sparta Congregation; Rev. R. W. Chesnut and wife, and Mr. G. W. Nevin and wife, of Marissa; Rev. J. C. Elliott, of Swanwick, and Mr. John Dixon and wife, of Murphysboro, Ill. Mr. Samuel Douglass acted as chairman and led the congregation in prayer. After singing the 100th Psalm the people were entertained by addresses from Mr. Adam Russel, Dr. R. C. Hamilton and Revs. J. R. Wylie, J. C. Elliott, W. J. Smiley, J. D. Cren– shaw and R. W. Chesnut. Dinner was now ready, and Mrs. I. C. McMillan took charge of this part of the program. There were about 400 people present, and the dinner was. enjoyed by all, before the hour for returning home arrived. We have seen many well-fur– nished tables, but certainly we never saw anything to excel this one. Everybody seemed to be happy, and certainly they had reason to
